Ugh, DH and I still can't decide... How about Marguerite?

DH and I sat through the credits of a movie last night to find some names. We found [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], and we thought “[name_f]Margot[/name_f]” would make a cute nn. (We already have a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]/[name_f]Maggie[/name_f] in the family.)

First concern: does that sound way too [name_m]French[/name_m]?

Also, what are some other nn’s for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]?

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is beautiful!. I feel like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is a full name in its own right. But, I don’t like nicknames. Why choose a lovely name and not use it? The only other nn I can think of are [name_f]Rita[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], Marg.

I adore [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]! It’s been on my list a while to honor a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] in the family. I don’t think it’s too [name_m]French[/name_m] due to its usage in English-speaking countries in the 20th century. It still has [name_m]French[/name_m] flair but also has sort of a 1920s-1930s vibe.

Since [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is a traditional nickname for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]/[name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I say why not? I’ve toyed with using [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], a traditional nickname for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] because the word daisy is marguerite in [name_m]French[/name_m]. Most [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nicknames would work: [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Margie[/name_f], [name_f]Madge[/name_f] or [name_f]Rita[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is a cute nn, I don’t feel it sounds overly [name_m]French[/name_m].

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Rita[/name_f] as a nn, or maybe [name_f]Mari[/name_f] (marh-ee), [name_f]Margie[/name_f]

Oh I adore [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], and the nn [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] lovely lovely is all I have to say!

I love [name_m]French[/name_m] names so I’m a fan of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f].

[name_f]Rita[/name_f] is also one of my favourite nns, so I agree with the pps suggestion of the nn [name_f]Rita[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is a very nice name. I don’t think of it as distinctly [name_m]French[/name_m]. I mean, it is, but I think it’s been used in the US and elsewhere enough that it would not be strange. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] on its own is more my style, but it works as a nickname. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is of course a nn for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
