Ugh. Second guessing our choice. Can you think of something better?

We have/had decided to name our fourth daughter [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] (nn: [name]Indie[/name] and/or [name]Lucy[/name]).
I was happy with this decision for a few days but doubts have started to creep in. I do love the name combo and the nickname options, I’m just worried that I may be missing an even better name to complete our sibset. I’m sure this is because I’ve gotten some raised eyebrows and crinkled nose reactions when I’ve told a few people what the name is. I wish I’d kept the name private until she was born.

So, I’m wondering if you guys have any suggestions that may work for us better than [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]?

Her siblings will be:
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Maura[/name]
[name]Bella[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]
[name]Mia[/name] [name]Sloane[/name]
[name]Leo[/name] [name]Magnus[/name]
and
[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Arthur[/name]

Thanks for your help. I’m sorry to be neurotic.

[name]How[/name] about [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]? So, so pretty, and classic.

I think it’s PERFECT, especially with nn [name]Lucy[/name]

Thanks for your suggestions! It’s funny…I was thinking of [name]Rosalie[/name] too. Might have to really consider this!

[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is an AMAZING name!!! Especially with nn [name]Indie[/name] (so clever!). Stick with it, she’s your baby and if you love the name that’s what matters. And, it goes great with the sibling names.

First of all, [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is a fantastic name and If you really love it you should use it regardless of what others think.
Suggestions:
[name]Louisa[/name] “[name]Lucy[/name]”
[name]Lucia[/name] “[name]Lucy[/name]”
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]India[/name] “[name]Indie[/name]”
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]

Although, I’m not sure how I like [name]Rosalie[/name] with [name]Ronan[/name]. A little to much '[name]Ro[/name]"?

[name]Bella[/name], Julliette, [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Liliane[/name] [name]Meave[/name]

[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is very pretty and I love the nn [name]Lucy[/name].

[name]Rosalie[/name] is one of my favorite girl names, but I love your choice of [name]Lucinda[/name] with “[name]Indie[/name]” as the NN. So cute!

[name]Don[/name]'t second guess yourself if YOU love it. When I was preganant with DS#2 I stuck to my guns with the name even though my mother HATED it (Should never have shared it) and I am really happy I did. Now this time around, I am trying to RENAME my daughter, and had to share my new name choice and it’s been ripped apart so she’s probably stuck with her name, which while pretty and fitting, is not up my alley. If YOU love the name I say go with your gut and I have NO idea why anyone would raise any eyebrows, really! I mean I was pondering [name]Delilah[/name] to replace DD’s name, I can understand the controversy there, but [name]Lucinda[/name]? what’s wrong with [name]Lucinda[/name]? It’s precious and got all sorts of built in nicknames if that’s what you are looking for. GL.

I agree with the others–don’t second guess yourself. [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is gorgeous and goes beautifully with your other children. From this point on, just try to keep the name under wraps. Once she’s born, no one will question it.

[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] is simply wonderful!! I would keep it. If you do decide to change it, the only similar alternative I would suggest is [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Maeve[/name].

I hate to add doubt but…

  1. Your other girls have pretty names, [name]Lucinda[/name] nor [name]Indie[/name] are “pretty”
  2. [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Mia[/name], [name]Bella[/name], [name]Leo[/name], & [name]Ronan[/name] have a romantic feel. [name]Lucinda[/name]… it’s just not on par

I agree with the suggestions of [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name]. Also [name]Lucille[/name]/[name]Lucilla[/name] and [name]Lucretia[/name]

Thanks for your encouragement
The raised eyebrow people just thought it was “old timey” and “snobby”. Then again, I would never use the names they chose for their children. Perhaps I should take it as a positive that they DON’T like Lucinda, ya know?
Good luck to you and your renaming situation

Thanks so much! If we decide to stick with [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Maeve[/name], I think we’ll definitely keep it to ourselves until she’s born.
Thanks for your reply and encouragement!

Thanks for your suggestions. We have friends with a daughter named [name]Louisa[/name]. [name]Lucia[/name] is really pretty but I’d like to stay away from any more Italian-sounding names. I just don’t care for [name]Lucille[/name] or [name]Lucretia[/name] at all. I appreciate your reply, though.

[name]Glad[/name] I could help, I truly believe if you love the name, and it has no major negative association for you (i.e. stripper, someone who is villainous, etc.) it will work out. If you are the one with lingering doubts about the sound or feel, that’s when it is time to second guess. But it sounds like you are happy with your choice! It’s a nice full name.

You are so right. Thank you!

You’re welcome, and just read your edited post,I agree with you that the raised eyebrows for those reasons are a good thing! Especially if those people chose names that were not your style. Thank you, I need the luck on the renaming-since it still hasn’t happened, lol!
