UK born Greek-Italian Mother needs a name

I’m writing a HP fanfiction, so far the MC’s name is being worked on, but her father’s is confirmed.

[u](Previous Topic: MC’s Name, and [name]Story[/name] info)[/u]
[u](Previous Topic: Father’s Name)[/u]

Next is her mother’s name:

Her mother is Greek-Italian, born and raised in the UK.
I picture her like [name]Lana[/name] Parilla on OUAT, but more tan and with hazel eyes:

  • She’s a short woman, 5’3, but she’s definitely a presence and force to be reckoned with.
  • She attended Hogwarts, was in Slytherin.
  • Tends to be very tightly wounded and is prone to outbursts.
  • Demanding, determined, and insistent.
  • Shows her love through material objects
  • Shallow, and superficial but in denial about it
  • Arrogant, but it stems from her insecurities (her daughter, the MC, inherited the insecurity)
  • Very clever, and thinks ahead, plans a lot.
  • A bit controlling, and secretive.
  • A gold-digger, very concerned with status, which is how she met and married her husband, but did grow to love him sincerely and they are a good couple together
  • Idolizes her only son, the MC’s younger brother
  • Loves her children, but has a poor way of showing it. She’s focused on materials far too much.
  • She’s protective, and very loyal
  • She agrees with Voldemort’s ideas, she’s anti-muggle, and very elitist with blood purity.
(A brilliant poster in my previous topic gave me the idea to have her be pure blood, but her husband be half-blood. So that’s a flaw in her, in the sense that she’s all about blood purity but she fell in love with a half-blood, and married him, that “guilt” is also part of why she becomes a believer in Voldemort. As a way to prove herself a non-blood traitor, despite her marriage.)

She’s a bit of an antagonist in the story, but she does redeem herself in the end. She’s not evil, but she’s definitely a bit of a negative force for a while.

She is married to [name]Sergei[/name] Belyakov.

Ideas so far are:
[name]Priscilla[/name]
[name]Helene[/name]/[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Selina[/name]
[name]Isidora[/name]
[name]Maria[/name]
Dinora nn [name]Dina[/name]

Surname options are: [name]Rinaldi[/name], Salucci, Favero, Rotolo (Italian surnames)
She keeps her surname after marriage, and may hyphenate it.

Thoughts?

I like Dinora Favero-Belyakov or Dinora Favero (without the nn, she is too haughty? to use one.)

Okay, so I’m thinking of names that sound stuck-up:

[name]Vittoria[/name]
[name]Marlena[/name]
[name]Serina[/name] (kinda funny, because it sounds like “serene”, yet that’s the opposite of her character)
Esmerelde/[name]Esmerelda[/name]
[name]Athene[/name]/[name]Athena[/name]
Corette/[name]Coretta[/name]/Coreta (like [name]Regina[/name]'s mom [name]Cora[/name] in OUAT, lol)
Deirdren (DEER-dren. I saw a little girl with this name at my church a little while back)
[name]Cerys[/name]
[name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Nyssa[/name]
Rosamine ([name]ROZ[/name]-ah-min)
Catrena (just a different spelling on a popular name, but I think this could work very well)

    • Lailey Jamestock, aspiring author

Ahh, I like that, Dinora was her original name too. And you raise a good point about the nickname.

I like [name]Serina[/name], Deirdren and Catrena a lot, thank you!

Some names used in both [name]Italy[/name] and Greece:
[name]Marina[/name]
[name]Sara[/name]
[name]Marianna[/name]
[name]Katerina[/name] / [name]Caterina[/name] - [name]Katerina[/name] is Greek and [name]Caterina[/name] is Italian, but either works

I suggest…
[name]Katya[/name]
[name]Katerina[/name]
Diamanda
[name]Ekaterine[/name]
[name]Darla[/name]
[name]Ariadne[/name]

Her name is officially Dinora Favero-Belykova. Thank you all for your help.
