I feel like most berries prefer most unisex names on one particular gender depending on the names and personal preference. So, I’m interested in compiling a list of the ‘ultimate’ unisex names. Names that you truly love EQUALLY for both genders. No slight advantages anywhere, the type of names that you pick out before you know your child’s gender and could love for either boy or girl.
If I have time, and if there is a enough data, I can create a ranking.
I agree that a lot of nature names seem most suited to this. Mine are [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u], [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u], and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]! I truly love them both on both girls and boys. [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u] I can only really see myself using as a middle because it’s more daring than my usual style, and practically I think because [name_u]Skye[/name_u] is generally a girl’s name it would probably work better as a middle for a boy, but conceptually I really love all three about equally on both genders.
I usually kind of make myself choose a side when it comes to this, I think. If it starts out equal to me, I think about it until I’ve leaned one way or the other. [name_u]Rain[/name_u], [name_u]Adair[/name_u], and [name_u]Halcyon[/name_u] might be the few that I don’t have a preference for either way.
I also like [name_u]Sutton[/name_u], [name_u]Cal[/name_u], [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_u]Casey[/name_u], and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] for boys and girls.
I feel this way about [name_u]Marion[/name_u] and [name_f]Kimber/name_f! I love the name [name_u]Kim[/name_u] (or [name_f]Kimber[/name_f]) on a boy but it would never work where I live.
Oh, and [name_u]Ariel[/name_u]. I only love [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] on a boy, I don’t personally care for it much on a girl although it’s a perfectly serviceable name.
Wait, those exist?!
Seriously though, I don’t think I have any as far as first names go, but I would use these as middles for either gender:
Sage
Sparrow
Briar
Dove
Wren
Forest
March
Brook
Poet
Sunday
October
Truth
Robin
Noel
Lark
Love
River
Harley.
I love [name_u]Harley[/name_u] both equally on both genders, and I genuinely don’t know if I’d be able to decide whether to use it for a boy or a girl.
I may have another, but not sure if it counts as I have gender-specific spelling preferences, although it’s pronounced the same.
