This thread is for you ladies to post ultrasound updates. I thought this group needs a thread like this. No need to post pictures unless you want to.
[name_m]How[/name_m] fun! I won’t have another us for like 6 weeks, but am looking forward to hearing everyone’s updates!
My midwives don’t do many ultrasounds (typically 2-3 depending on testing the mom wants). I’ve had 4 this pregnancy, as I had an additional growth scan after measuring 2 weeks small and having preterm contractions. I’m hoping baby will be on-time and I wont need any more!
Great idea, I love scan pics! I’ll more than likely only have a 12wk & a 20wk scan, and my first scan seems soooo far away…
I like this idea! I’m 15 weeks and I have had 4 ultrasounds already. My next one isn’t until 20 weeks though. At my NT scan, the sonographer switched it to 4D and showed us our little bub sucking his/her thumb. She said as it was the left thumb, there’s a good chance that the baby may be left-handed, so it’ll be interesting to see if that’s true!
I had my NT scan [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f] at 13 weeks. The cutest moment was when she/he put their little arms up to their face. It was so cute, but I was unbelievably ticklish. Found out it is a anterior placenta. This will factor into my decision whether or not to have a VBAC. Plus I’m not thrilled with the idea of a repeat back labor. That’s just me.
That is interesting, but also: 4 ultrasounds by 15 weeks is a lot, and there are a few studies showing more ultrasound exposure (especially 3d/4d) can cause left handedness!
@lillian, really? I didnt know that! I do have a left-handed brother and left-handed [name_m]BIL[/name_m] too, so I wonder if that factors in? And as for the ultrasounds, I have a medical condition, Idiopathic Intracranial Hyptertension, which I was on some pretty nasty medications for. And although I stopped them the day I found out I was pregnant, the Dr wasn’t sure if it would have impacted the baby’s health at all, hence why all the early scans. Luckily everything was fine, and now the pregnancy is being treated like a normal low-risk one
I had a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks. There weren’t too many details to see, but I was so happy to see the little nugget for the first time. I got to hear the heartbeat, too, which was overwhelmingly awesome
My husband and I have opted against genetic testing, so there won’t be an NT scan. My next ultrasound with be the standard 20 week scan, in about 8 weeks.
Bumping for anybody else who might want to comment.
I only had three in my entire pregnancy, I was low risk so there wasn’t a need for more but it kinda bummed me out that I only got to see the baby a few times. I loved my 20 week anatomy scan tho! It’s so awesome to see them moving around in there. My little one kept putting her hands up to block our view of her face!
I have only had the anatomy scan at 19 weeks. That was really amazing and also comforting. The ultrasound tech and doctor kept telling us how beautiful our son was. I am sure they say that to everyone, but it was still nice to hear. I remember her telling us that he had a “beautiful spine” which I got a kick out of. It was also just remarkable to see all of the things they could check. They did a fetal echocardiogram, for instance.
We opted out of the NT scan. They did recommend it bc I am 36 (and thus geriatric) but since it isn’t diagnostic and we weren’t willing to do the more invasive diagnostic testing to confirm the results, we decided against it.
I am 34 weeks now, and my practice will do one more quick scan towards the very end just to make sure the baby isn’t breech before delivery. Unless there are complications, that’s it.
I had 3, but the 20 week was my absolute favorite. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] looked like she was rolling around and it was hilarious! I had an 8 week, a 20 week, and a 36 week to make sure she was healthy for delivery.
