so I have decided to introduce my 11 month old daughter as [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]. Her full name is [name_f]Umaya[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] but we call her [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and sometimes just [name_f]Uma[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
i am ok with people sometimes also just calling her [name_f]Uma[/name_f] as a nickname but I want [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] to be her name she is called at school etc.
[name_f][/name_f]
I was curious thought what your first impressions would be if you heard this name [name_f][/name_f]? As a double Barrel. Wtat is the vibe [name_f][/name_f]? First thoughts and images [name_f][/name_f]? Also what kind of category of names would You put [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] into [name_f][/name_f]? We live in NYC also just for reference.
[name_f][/name_f]
i also love just [name_f]Snow[/name_f] sometimes. As she gets older I see her more and more as [name_f]Snow[/name_f].
First, Umaya Snow and Uma Snow are both so beautiful! You named her well.
The vibes I get from it are whimsical nature meets sleek city girl - it’s gorgeous, simple, straightforward, and different in a great way.
I did initially think Snow was her middle - reading through and realizing it is part of her first name, I wonder if things could get tricky down the line for you/her. I think some people will defer to the first part of a double-barrell, especially if the name isn’t hyphenated - meaning at some points in her life, she will be referred to as just Umaya, which is not 1 but 2 steps away from what you want her to be called (Uma Snow).
If I were in your shoes and set on Uma Snow, I would consider changing her legal name to Uma Snow, maybe even Uma-Snow (though I’m not sure that looks quite as nice). Otherwise you may have to correct others often. Of course I could be wrong, but these are just my thoughts. Good luck with however you choose!
If I first heard [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] rather than saw it written down, I think I would likely hear it as one name and visualise it as Umasno or something similar. It would sound vaguely familiar because of [name_f]Uma[/name_f], perhaps an elaboration, but I might need to ask again to hear it properly or ask for the spelling. I wouldn’t be surprised if [name_f]Snow[/name_f] was her surname too, simply because it’s an unusual combination as a double-barrelled name.
[name_f][/name_f]
That aside, my first reaction would be surprise and curiousity. I might wonder if [name_f]Snow[/name_f] had some special significance for it’s inclusion. It feels bold, bohemian and artsy, with spiritual undertones. It feels like an intentional blend of traditional and modern naming styles. It also has storybook or fantasy vibes because of [name_f]Snow[/name_f] White. The particular style would ultimately depend on how the person wore the name.
[name_f][/name_f]
The biggest wildcard is whether your daughter may prefer to drop [name_f]Snow[/name_f] or choose to go by [name_f]Umaya[/name_f] in the future. There are unknowns with any name but this is particularly common for people a double-barrelled first name, and so is going by your legal name when you get older.
[name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] feels wintery and magical [name_f][/name_f]- stylish but storybook [name_f][/name_f]- it would be a name i’d be pleased to see on a class register?
I agree with this exactly! [name_f][/name_f] Wintry and magical and storybook are perfect descriptions for her. [name_f][/name_f] I love [name_f]Snow[/name_f] in double barrels, so maybe I love it because it reminds me of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f], which I’ve loved for years? [name_f][/name_f] It might take a bit for it to click with people, but it’s a beautiful name!
I love this !! Wintry and magical is exactly what I want I just over the course of getting to know my LO feel like [name_f]Snow[/name_f] is such an integral part of her being and even though I love [name_f]Uma[/name_f], the snow adds real magic to me.
I love love love whimsical nature meets city girl. Essentially her [name_f][/name_f]! Yeah I totally get those concerns. I feel like for now as she’s so little (11 months) we can continue with [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and then im curious how it will be when she starts school. Maybe by then she will also have an opinion and I accept that. But for now I will continue with [name_f]Uma[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and see what happens [name_f][/name_f] in the end, all names are beautiful to me.
