Lately I’ve been lurking around here, looking for a little bit of naming inspiration, and finally worked up the courage to ask for help.
We jotted down a bunch of names we like and agree on. The problem is that we like them all (a lot!). We have until [name]March[/name] of next year to make a final decision, so no rush here. Still, I would like for the list to get a bit shorter. It doesn’t have to come down to one right away, but maybe you can offer some constructive criticism to move us on the right direction.
Our last name is [name]Batista[/name] (bah-TEES-tah).
Big brothers and sisters are [name]Matias[/name], [name]Juliana[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Roman[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name].
No middle name will be used.
From the boys’ list, I like [name]Issac[/name] and [name]Tomas[/name].
From the girls’ list, I like [name]Emilia[/name], [name]Marina[/name], and [name]Paloma[/name]! My daughter’s middle name is [name]Paloma[/name] and I still love it!
[name]Simon[/name] hands down from your boy list. [name]Ramona[/name] is definitely top of the girls list, but [name]Paloma[/name] is a very close second!
I really love [name]Emilio[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name]. But since your last name is [name]Batista[/name], I’d go with [name]Angel[/name] (if you’re a [name]Dexter[/name] fan lol)
You have great taste in names and a lovely sibset! My favorites from your list with your last name are: [name]Xavier[/name] or [name]Emilio[/name] for a boy and [name]Emilia[/name], [name]Natalia[/name], or [name]Paloma[/name] for a girl. While I like [name]Ramona[/name], I think it’s a little similar to [name]Roman[/name] and while I like [name]Marina[/name] too, it starts with Ma- like [name]Matias[/name] so I’d skip it for that reason here.
While I love [name]Ramona[/name], it is a bit close to [name]Roman[/name].
For your boys I love [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Felix[/name]!
For your girls I love [name]Estela[/name] or [name]Paloma[/name]!
Great name choices!
Eliminate: [name]Emilia[/name] (too many “ee” sounds with [name]Batista[/name]), [name]Marina[/name] (shares the same initial as [name]Matias[/name]), [name]Ramona[/name] (too similar to [name]Roman[/name]) and [name]Paloma[/name] (similar in sound with [name]Roman[/name]). These eliminations are painful because I like all of them! If you don’t mind any of the issues I’ve stated, you can’t go wrong with any of these choices.
Boys : [name]Felix[/name] is my personal favourite, followed by [name]Isaac[/name], but [name]Emilio[/name] and [name]Xavier[/name] go better with your other childrens names (which by the way are lovely)
[name]Simon[/name] doesn’t fit and has a similar sound to [name]Roman[/name], and I like [name]Tomas[/name] but everyone would spell it [name]Thomas[/name]
Girls: [name]Estela[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name] are both beautiful.
[name]Romona[/name]'s too like [name]Roman[/name].
Boy favorite: [name]Felix[/name]
[name]Emilio[/name] - adore [name]Emilio[/name]
[name]Emiliano[/name] - prefer [name]Emilio[/name].
[name]Isaac[/name] - nms.
[name]Xavier[/name] - I’m not a fan on names that start with X. (It also screams X-men to me).
[name]Simon[/name] - mms.
[name]Felix[/name] - one of my personal favorites
[name]Tomas[/name] - I think this is going to be too easily misspelled as [name]Thomas[/name]. But if that doesn’t bother you. I like it.
Girl [name]Favorite[/name]: [name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Emilia[/name] - one of my personal favorite.
[name]Estela[/name] - would prefer [name]Estelle[/name]/a.
[name]Marina[/name] - Reminds me of docking a boat. Also I really like that none of you kids have the same initials. [name]Marina[/name] would be the second MB.
[name]Ramona[/name] - I find this too close to [name]Roman[/name].
[name]Natalia[/name] - nms.
[name]Paloma[/name] - adore [name]Paloma[/name].
PS: I really like that both [name]Emilio[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name] are on your list. I feel like if you decided you really liked both of these you would virtually know what you’d childs name would be regardless of gender. Which I think is cool. (I haven’t been able to find a single name where I like both the male and female versions.)
[name]Emilio[/name], [name]Felix[/name], and [name]Tomas[/name] from the boys’ list ([name]Emiliano[/name]'s too much; [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Simon[/name], and [name]Xavier[/name] are a little dull compare to the others)
[name]Emilia[/name], [name]Estela[/name], and [name]Paloma[/name] from the girls’ list ([name]Marina[/name] is a place to park boats- yes, I know it’s a name, but it just smells of fish and petroleum to me!- [name]Ramona[/name]'s awesome but too close to [name]Roman[/name], and [name]Natalia[/name]'s just a bit boring/80s. I know [name]Natalie[/name]'s still a popular name, but I know so many mom-age [name]Natalie[/name]/[name]Natalia[/name]/Natashas that it seems a bit odd to see it on a baby. I heard two toddler sisters called [name]Natalie[/name] and [name]Brittany[/name] in the supermarket a couple of months ago, and it was surprising).
My favourites with your older children’s names and your surname considered are [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Estela[/name]; [name]Tomas[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name] in second place.
felix batista hands down [name]IMO[/name]. love it!
from your girls list i love ramona, but agree that its too close to roman. next choice would be marina, but marina batista sounds a bit rhymey. what about a feminine play on one of your boys choices? simone batista sounds lovely. given your other girls names, i’m thinking you like the a-a sound though, so of your choices i like estella best with your ln.
[name]Simon[/name] and [name]Tomas[/name]. [name]Ramona[/name] and [name]Paloma[/name]. [name]Paloma[/name] is beautiful! I gravitated toward the names with strong “o” sounds since, to my ear, they balance out the strong “ee” and multiple “a” vowels in your surname. Good luck!
Thank you so much for helping us shorten the list. I feel better after reading your feedback. [name]Ramona[/name], [name]Marina[/name] and [name]Emiliano[/name] are out of the list. I’ll be back with more questions in no time.
From the boy’s list, I like [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Tomas[/name] (with the h, though). From the girl’s, [name]Marina[/name], [name]Ramona[/name], and [name]Natalia[/name] (I like [name]Natalie[/name] better though).
