So my husband does not want a common name for our next daughter. He actually wants to make up the name, which makes me nervous. I am trying to make him happy, though. I really like the name I made: Avaline (pronounced [name]AVA[/name]-line, as in phone line.) Well, every single thing I suggest, made up or not, he hates. Please help! =)
Our first daughter is [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Zofia[/name], and I want them to go well together. Our last name is super long, so I’m looking for either 1,2,or maybe 3 syllables. Thanks!
[name]Adlai[/name], not made up but an unusual boy name that sounds cute with [name]Hazel[/name]

Good luck! Your daughter has such a lovely name, so I’m sure you’ll find something equally lovely for her sister.
I like Avaline (but I pronounce it with -leen). I don’t know, maybe the pronoiunciation should be line as in the phone line, but I say it as -leen simply because it’s softer and less complicated. haha.
[name]Hazel[/name] is both a color and a nature name. Maybe you can find something that fits your criteria that links to your first daughter this way. (Also this gives you a HUGE opening for beautiful and uncommon names - that aren’t necessarily made up. I * my favorites)
[name]Birdie[/name]*
Coriander
[name]Cyane[/name]*
[name]Dove[/name]*
[name]Ecru[/name]
[name]Erie[/name]*
[name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Hyacinth[/name]
[name]Mimosa[/name]
[name]Posey[/name]*
[name]Tarragon[/name]
[name]Tuliana[/name] (mix of [name]Tulia[/name] and [name]Ana[/name] but I like to think of it as a mix between [name]Tulip[/name] and [name]Liliana[/name])
[name]Onyx[/name]*
I second [name]Rosamund[/name], because we are naming our daughter [name]Rosamund[/name] when she arrives in [name]December[/name].
Also:
[name]Rosemonde[/name] (RHAZZ-mund)
[name]Cordelle[/name] or [name]Cordelie[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name] (I think this goes especially well with [name]Hazel[/name])
Dillys
I think you should probably talk your husband out of a made up name. I bear one, though I think it is pretty-sounding, It is mostly a burden. I had to shorten it to [name]Ana[/name] for work, because I got sick of having a 10 minute converstion about how to spell it, how to pronounce it and where it came from with every new client.
(It’s pronounced [name]Anna[/name] [name]Leah[/name], most people get it wrong, sometimes spectaularly wrong, the worst is ’ Anally’)
