Uncommon Z Names

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I’d really love to hear your favorite unusual male names that begin with Z! Thank you

[name_u]Zen[/name_u], could be short for [name_m]Zenon[/name_m], Zenith…
[name_m]Zander[/name_m]
[name_m]Zavier[/name_m]
Zaine/[name_m]Zane[/name_m]/[name_m]Zayne[/name_m]

They’re all I can think of!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] came across this one last week:
Zedekiel or Zadkiel: The angel of prayer. He could be [name_m]Zed[/name_m] for short

[name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] / [name_m]Zebulyn[/name_m] - had a boy in my class I think in 4th grade with this name. Went by [name_m]Zeb[/name_m].

[name_u]Zion[/name_u] - One of my favorite Z boys names, especially since hearing [name_f]Lauryn[/name_f] [name_m]Hill[/name_m]'s song about her son, [name_u]Zion[/name_u].

I love [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] and [name_m]Zacchaeus[/name_m], and I have a soft spot for [name_m]Zared[/name_m], though I’m not sure how legitimate it is. Someone posted [name_u]Zerah[/name_u] recently, which really piqued my interest.

My favorite boys Z names, in no order are:

[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]/[name_m]Zephyrus[/name_m] (the actual Greek form)
[name_m]Zeke[/name_m]
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_m]Zenobios[/name_m] – it’s just the boy version of [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] but I wouldn’t use it in the first spot
Zopyros – means “glowing” in Greek. This was the name of a Persian nobleman who aided his king [name_m]Darius[/name_m] in the capture of Babylon. He did this by mutilating himself and then going to the Babylonians claiming that it had been [name_m]Darius[/name_m] who did it to him. After gaining their trust he betrayed them.
Zosimus – “likely to survive” and the name of several saints and a pope
Zosio – “one who is wise”

Dantea, how do you properly pronounce [name_m]Zephyrus[/name_m] and Zosio?

[name_m]Zephyrus[/name_m] would be like [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] with us at the end :stuck_out_tongue: zef-er-us.

Zosio is zoh-see-oh. I used Zosio in my NaNo book.

[name_m]Zadok[/name_m]
[name_m]Zebedee[/name_m]
[name_m]Zane[/name_m]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_m]Zebulon[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachariah[/name_m]
Zuriel
[name_m]Zimran[/name_m]
Zephan/[name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m]
Zimri
[name_m]Zoltan[/name_m]
[name_m]Zeno[/name_m]

Darn, I had hoped [name_m]Zephyrus[/name_m] was zah-FYE-riss.

Is Zosio ZOH-see-oh or zoh-SEE-oh?

[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
Zephririne
[name_f]Zamora[/name_f]

Zosio is ZOH-see-oh. It’s super fun to say :stuck_out_tongue:

Zaccai hasn’t been mentioned.

[name_m]How[/name_m] is Zaccai pronounced? zah-[name_u]KYE[/name_u]?

Essentially. I say the “k” sound in the first syllable though…
