Apologies to any of you who have already read my story in the baby girl forum. I’m feeling pretty desperate and anxious right now as the birth of our third child is only a day away (a planned induction).
Siblings are [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].
This whole pregnancy I’ve been thinking that [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is THE name. I’ve loved it for so long and was excited at the thought of finally being able to use it. But now it’s crunch time, I’m not sure I’m brave enough to use it. Is it too much of a name for a little girl to carry through life with? Is it a mature enough sounding name for a girl to wear as an adult? Or is it too cutesy and sweet sounding?
I feel that we hit the nail on the head naming our first daughter and that now [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a difficult name to match I’m obviously biased, but I think it’s such a strong, sophisticated name and with a meaning of ‘nobility’ I’m wondering if [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] can stand up to the strength of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]?
Are there any other names that I should consider that are perhaps alternatives to [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]?
And for some extra last minute advice - what brother name would you choose with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]?
Really love your kids’ names and I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] goes perfectly with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]! To me [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is just as strong and sophisticated as [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], maybe a bit more sweet but in a very good way. So I say would go ahead and use it if you really love it! Other names I would pair with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]:
I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is great! It’s very Victorian like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], yet it’s also very fresh and airy.
I like the nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] or [name_f]Emme[/name_f] for [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
Other ideas…
[name_f]Bernadine[/name_f]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Val[/name_u])
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] (keeps the theme of containing 2 Ds)
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
I think that [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is perfect. It’s on my list too. It’s so charming. Vintage, sweet, artsy, recognizable yet very unique. I don’t think that it’s too cutesy. Have you seen ‘[name_f]Eternal[/name_f] [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] of the Spotless Mind’? Sort of a creepy movie, but the main character is a grown woman named [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] & it doesn’t seem weird. Also, it goes great w/[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] & [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].
To me, [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is just as strong and sophisticated as [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. And as someone said, it has a Victorian vibe just like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] do. It’s perfect for you in my opinion! I have [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] on my list too and adore the nickname [name_u]Clem[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] would fit well with [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is cute but I agree that it doesn’t have the same effect as [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
Thank you to everyone who has responded to my post!
I was so relieved that you guys also thought that [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would suit our current sibset
I have wonderful news… We welcomed into the world our newest addition two days ago! However, just to throw a spanner into the works - we have had a little boy.
I was so certain that I was carrying a girl. So much so that I didn’t really give much thought to potential boys’ names.
After having our son I was thinking that maybe I should now use the name [name_m]Clement[/name_m] as this is our last bub and I’ll therefore never be able to use [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] after all.
But, for me, [name_m]Clement[/name_m] just doesn’t feel right for our son. I don’t love it as much as [name_f]Clementine[/name_f].
I’m feeling really lost. Our little boy is now two days old and has no name.
Are there any names that you can please suggest that would suit sister [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and brother [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]?
I was thinking maybe [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], but I could really do with more ideas.
