Currently I have an ever changing list for girl names which include some very classical sounding names which some unique options. I tend to be drawn to both, which names would you keep or remove from the following in no particular order;
Aleena- find this name very classic and beautiful
Ayla- Eye-luh think this is simple and sweet but growing very popular with the Scottis9h spelling.
Caliya/ Kaliya- Ka-lee- ah fell in love with this name recently
Lena- my favourite choice simple and feminine would outweigh Aleena
Mishal - means light and I think it’s the right sound of harsh and soft
Maryam- classic and beautiful
Kamila- ka me la I think it’s a lovely name
Sarah- my grandmother’s name and a classic lovely name for a girl
Safina- I love the sound of this one
Zara/ Zahra- strong and floral
Vida- love the v start and it means to be alive
feel free to suggest any you think might be of a imilar style? preferably of arabic, Persian or Turkish decent but any name with a good meaning would fit.
I would keep [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Kamila[/name_f], Mishal, [name_f]Maryam[/name_f], [name_f]Zahra[/name_f], and Safina. For me, [name_f]Aleena[/name_f] and [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] are confusing spellings and Caliya doesn’t flow right. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is very pretty, but I prefer [name_f]Zahra[/name_f]/[name_f]Zara[/name_f] to it.
I would keep… [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]: This name is really beautiful and bright, and I definitely prefer this spelling over the other one. [name_f]Lena[/name_f]: This is so beautiful. It’s short, sweet, and calm, yet so beautiful. [name_f]Maryam[/name_f]: Definitely agree with your comments on this one: It truly is a beautiful classic. Underused, too, and I love this spelling. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]: I really love honor names, so I’d encourage you to keep this one. It’s simple, feminine, and classic. Safina: Probably my personal favorite on your list. It’s unique, refined, and has such wonderful sparkle. [name_f]Zara[/name_f]/[name_f]Zahra[/name_f]: I’d use the [name_f]Zara[/name_f] spelling because it’s more intuitive in terms of pronunciation, and this is the exact right balance of quirk and style. Could honor [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], too. [name_u]Vida[/name_u]: Another favorite of mine. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the meaning, the bold, happy sound, and the simplicity.
I’d drop: Caliya/Kaliya: I don’t think this shares the timeless quality of your other favorites, and I think the pronunciation could prove confusing. Mishal: Not a huge fan. I think this could get misspelled as [name_f]Michelle[/name_f], and I don’t think it’s as elegant as some of your other choices. [name_f]Aleena[/name_f]: I think the spelling here is confusing.
I’m on the fence about [name_f]Kamila[/name_f].
Keep: [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Maryam[/name_f], [name_u]Vida[/name_u] and Safina.
Drop: [name_f]Aleena[/name_f] ( I really like it but you prefer [name_f]Lena[/name_f]), [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and [name_f]Zara[/name_f] (too common)
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is nice, I think it will be a perfect middle name
[name_f]Aleena[/name_f] – I must say I prefer [name_f]Alina[/name_f], as I just don’t like the look of the double-e in the middle. [name_f]Alina[/name_f] looks more streamlined to me. While [name_f]Alina[/name_f] has more Polish usage as you’d like, you might like to consider [name_f]Alena[/name_f], to condense both [name_f]Aleena[/name_f] & [name_f]Lena[/name_f] into one name?
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] – I love the pronunciation and adore the Turkish meaning of this name. That said, without knowing those things, one might want to say AY-lah, and think it perhaps quite trendy modern. Nevertheless, I think it’s lovely.
Caliya/Kaliya – I definitely prefer the Kaliya spelling, as the C just loos a little awkward to me. I’m not as keen on this one though, and do think it’s one you could drop.
[name_f]Lena[/name_f] – indeed, a lovely, simple little classic.
Mishal – I do think of this as masculine, but then I also think of the dated [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]. I’m putting this one with Kaliya, and think it one you could drop.
[name_f]Maryam[/name_f] – this spelling, I admit, is a little unfamiliar to me, however, it’s nice, and definitely worth keeping.
[name_f]Kamila[/name_f] – I don’t mind this one, though depending on how much you love it, it could go either way, keep or drop.
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] – a good, solid classic, and as it has meaning to you, a definite keeper.
Safina – has a great sound, as you say, and a nice look to it. [name_m]Worth[/name_m] keeping. Perhaps you’d also like Safiya (Safiyyah), based on Safina & Kaliya?
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]/[name_f]Zahra[/name_f] – I love these, especially [name_f]Zahra[/name_f]. The meaning’s nice, and the sound and look are great. You may also like the Turkish Zehra?
[name_u]Vida[/name_u] – a sweet little thing with a great dash of spunk. I like it.
Keep
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
Caliya/Kaliya - love this!
[name_f]Maryam[/name_f] (not fond of this spellingc, though)
[name_f]Kamila[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
Safina
[name_u]Vida[/name_u]
Toss
[name_f]Aleena[/name_f] - If u prefer [name_f]Lena[/name_f], why keep [name_f]Aleena[/name_f]?
Mishal - maybe save for mn
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]/[name_f]Zahra[/name_f] - similar to [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] and honor names get top billing for me. (You could still use it as a mn.)
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]: simple, streamlined, travels well, and your favourite
Mishal: I love the soft, strong sound of this but it might be frequently misheard as [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Maryam[/name_f]: such a warm, beautiful name and very classic/traditional in Arab communities
[name_f]Kamila[/name_f]: I prefer the sound of this to the look, but it’s beautiful. I also like [name_f]Kamala[/name_f].
Safina: I’m with you — beautiful sound!
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]/[name_f]Zahra[/name_f]: One of my favourite names! Simple, strong, sophisticated and exotic.
[name_u]Vida[/name_u]: Such a bright, fun sound and a great meaning to boot.
I personally think [name_f]Aleena[/name_f] looks a bit clumsy/invented and doesn’t strike me as classic at all. Ditto Caliya/Kaliya.
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is likely to be confused with [name_f]Isla[/name_f], I think, plus some of your other names have more interesting and distinctive sounds. I love [name_f]Ayelet[/name_f] though — could that be an option?
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is nice but does feel a bit dull on this list. [name_f]Zara[/name_f]/[name_f]Zahra[/name_f]/[name_f]Zarah[/name_f] feels close enough to still work as an honour name for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], or how about [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Maryam[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f] and [name_u]Vida[/name_u]. I’d scratch [name_f]Kamila[/name_f], I don’t find it underused or particularly appealing, to be honest.
