Unfair Sibsets

There are a lot of unfair sibsets out in this world. You know, when one sibling has an awesome or beautiful name, and the other one has a boring or ugly one? Like, when one sister’s named [name]Juliet[/name] and the other [name]Olga[/name]?
Or [name]Anthony[/name], [name]Angela[/name], and [name]Marian[/name]. Poor [name]Marian[/name] got the M-rated name while her brother and sister got A+ names!

Sometimes life isn’t fair. [name]Do[/name] you know any real-life sibsets like this?

ETA 6/9/16 - I no longer agree with the thoughts I expressed in these posts, but I’m not deleting them. So please don’t hold my stupid old posts against me

I know an [name]Anastasia[/name]; her siblings all have top 5/top 10 names.

[name]Carmen[/name] and [name]Jane[/name], [name]Jane[/name]'s having a bit of a renaissance, but back then it was ‘plain [name]Jane[/name]’.

With all the sibset threads out there I think this issue is more important.

To me it’s less important if siblings names match or have similar origins or letters and more important that they are equal in strangeness and in beauty.

Kala_way, that’s exactly what I think! I would never name my kids two names starting with the same letter…that just screams tacky.

Edit: I don’t know why I said this, honestly. Sorry. I was young and immature. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn’t do it personally either, but it doesn’t bother me in small numbers and when you actually really love the names.
I have a friend with an [name]Aidan[/name] and an [name]Ashley[/name], she loved both names and she wasn’t trying to match them it just turned out that way.

When it’s really tacky and it bothers me is when you plan to have 6 or 7 or 15 kids and have to start spelling things wrong and being kreeaytyv in order to keep your set working.

I know of a sibset of [name]Amelie[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] and…[name]Gracie[/name]-[name]Mai[/name]. No joke. I feel sorry for [name]Gracie[/name]-[name]Mai[/name], her siblings have beautiful names!

Also know of siblings named [name]Braiden[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Alfie[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name]. It just sounds weird.

Aw, poor [name]Gracie[/name]-[name]Mai[/name].
About kreeativ spellings: That reminds me of the Duggars. You know, they have the show 19 Kids and Counting? They had to get really kreeativ, they have 19 kids whose names start with J!!
I got this from answers.com:
[name]Joshua[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Jana[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[COLOR=“#00FFFF”][name]John[/name]-[name]David[/name][/COLOR]
[name]Jill[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]
[name]Jessa[/name] [name]Lauren[/name]
[name]Jinger[/name] [name]Nicole[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name] [name]Garrett[/name]
[name]Josiah[/name] [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Joy[/name]-[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Jedidiah[/name] [name]Robert[/name]
[name]Jeremiah[/name] [name]Robert[/name]
[name]Jason[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]James[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]
[name]Justin[/name] [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Jackson[/name] [name]Levi[/name]
[name]Johannah[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Danielle[/name]
[name]Jordyn[/name]-[name]Grace[/name] Makiya
[name]Josie[/name] [name]Brooklyn[/name]

I don’t think I would be able to stand having a [name]Jedidiah[/name] and a [name]Jeremiah[/name] in the same house!!! And they have the same middle name!

seriously!
You’d already feel lost in the crowd with so many.
[name]How[/name] on earth can she remember their names on the fly when they’re all so close!?!

[name]Jedidiah[/name] and [name]Jeremiah[/name] are twins. [name]Way[/name] too matchy for me, but a lot of people seem to like it that way! I wonder if they’re nicknamed [name]Jed[/name] and [name]Jerry[/name]? That would help…
It’s important to remember that there may be more than meets the eye to seemingly unfair sibsets. Tastes differ, and maybe the parents were totally in love with every name they chose and that was the most important thing to them; or maybe, once [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], and [name]Georgia[/name] had arrived, grandmother [name]Linda[/name] died and they wanted to honor her when their next little girl was born. Sometimes you never know!

I remember when I was little I played with a couple of American girls on holiday who were staying on the same campsite as us. They introduced themselves as [name]Jackie[/name] and [name]Katie[/name], and knowing a couple of adult Jackies I assumed this girl’s real name was [name]Jacqueline[/name]. No, it turned out as she was getting told off by her mother one day. It was [name]Jackson[/name]. I don’t know if [name]Katie[/name]'s name was short for anything but [name]Katie[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name] seem a real mismatched sister pairing to me.

I know three boys - [name]Leroy[/name], [name]Curtis[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name]. Always felt like [name]Arlo[/name] got lucky in the name department. Also, there’s this singer called [name]Jimmy[/name] [name]Barnes[/name] who I love (being a bogan at heart. The aussies will know him) and his kids are called [name]Mahalia[/name], [name]Eliza[/name]-[name]Jane[/name], [name]Jackie[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name]-[name]May[/name].
Thing is, [name]Jackie[/name] is a boy and I always wondered if he felt a bit jipped that his name didn’t differentiate him as being the brother… Still, I grew up thinking [name]Jackie[/name] was a pretty rad name for a boy!

[name]Hiram[/name] & [name]Paul[/name]
I live in an area with few Jews but grew up in an area with tons of them. The mom was shocked that I pronounced [name]Hiram[/name] correctly. They went a different direction when pregnant with [name]Paul[/name] because of all the problems with [name]Hiram[/name]. They mostly call him [name]Hy[/name]

It’s more important that the names aren’t matchy. I’d rather see [name]Cole[/name] & [name]Chase[/name] over [name]Cole[/name] & [name]Joel[/name]

[name]Amen[/name]! Rhyming names are just horrendous.

Though my name and my husband’s name rhyme. It’s the first thing people comment on when they meet us. Not that it’s something we can help.

Ooh! I was thinking about this the other day. Family friends have [name]Bridger[/name], [name]Bastian[/name], & [name]Blythe[/name], but recently had their fourth. I was expecting some cool and uncommon B name, but he was born [name]Braedan[/name]! It made me so sad.

My cousins are also [name]Gillian[/name] and [name]Paige[/name], not the best names but pretty and feminine and not overused, and they have a sister named [name]Cameron[/name]. She was almost a [name]Katherine[/name], and I feel like she got some bad luck with the masculine trendy name!

I know twins named [name]Jana[/name] and [name]Lana[/name]. If I was a twin with a rhyming name, I would definitely feel like I didn’t really have my “own” name, you know?

I read about a sibling set.

Names were;

[name]Charlie[/name] [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Laurel[/name] and [name]Lacey[/name] [name]Brooke[/name]-[name]Marie[/name].

To me, the entire sibling set is disjointed.

I fail to see how it’s tacky, some people tend to prefer certain letters. I love A names, I hardly think having an [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Alaric[/name] as tacky.

Tacky would be something like [name]Jaeden[/name] and [name]Braeden[/name], imo.

Some unfair sibsets run in my family.

[name]One[/name] is [name]Brandon[/name], [name]Tyrell[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name] (boy), and [name]Monty[/name]. To be fair, there are three different mothers, [name]Aubrey[/name] and [name]Monty[/name] are full brothers, the rest are half. I think [name]Tyrell[/name] got ripped of majorly, and [name]Monty[/name] a bit too.

My sister [name]Arielle[/name] insists she got stuck with the unfair name in our family-[name]Darci[/name], [name]Devlin[/name], [name]Cambria[/name], [name]Arielle[/name]. The rest of us have pretty uncommon names, and hers is one everyone’s heard but spells wrong, especially since she’s one of three in her grade and the only one who doesn’t spell it like the mermaid.
