Unfortunate initials?

I LOVE the name [name_u]Casey[/name_u], but thoughts on the initials CLT? I was thinking of possibly changing the C to a K- but I most definitely prefer the more common spelling!

Yeah I’m not sure I’d use CLT initials lol. I like [name_u]Casey[/name_u] only with a c though. You could try something with a similar vibe maybe like [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], or [name_u]Tracy[/name_u].

I dont know what CLT means. Does it mean something bad? I wouldn’t really worry about all initials because he will just use CT. Middle initials dont come up a ton. But maybe dont do a ton of elaborate monograms if it means something bad.

High school years could be rough with those initials, but then again, do kids really know each others’ initials? Also… I maybe only associate it with something inappropriate bc you put it out there like that? Maybe I wouldn’t have thought about it if you had said nothing. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought.

Casey is only doable with a C. Starting with a K is not classic and just looks silly to me. Personally, i hate when people use K for a name that should be a C, ugh! I do love [name_u]Casey[/name_u] and I think if you love it so much you should consider changing the middle name instead if you’re that worried about the initials. If it is a family name, think of other ways to perhaps honor the person.

What does CLT stand for? I really don’t make the association to anything bad.

100% change it to a “K” or change the name. If you do change the name don’t do “B.” For those asking…sound it out as a word.

Welcome to Nameberry!!

Honestly it didn’t even occur to me until it was pointed out, so I think it’d be okay. But maybe I’m just sheltered.

Could be cult/clit maybe, lmao (both are a bit unfortunate) but many people don’t seem to see a problem unless I bring it up directly, so that’s definitely good to hear! If I do end up changing one of the names I’ll probably change the middle one instead- but I do love the full name very much, I’m glad I’ve been able to hear out some more opinions on this.

I just realized that even with a “K” you could get the same sound. [name_m]Can[/name_m] you switch the first and middle names?

I may change the middle! But many don’t seem to see much of a problem, either- so we’ll see

Although I also thought of both of those, [name_m]Colt[/name_m] came to mind as well. Since you love the FN so much, I would change the MN and reserve it for a future child.

Even with the excuse of kids not knowing each others MNs, they’ll have too put their FN on job/housing applications, potential badges for work, etc.

Also just to add more context for this post- this is a name change for me specifically! I don’t plan on getting married or having children (so I’ll probably keep my last name for the rest of my life) things like baby blankets, middle schoolers, and anything else that would be experienced during childhood is not an issue, luckily. The full name is “[name_u]Casey[/name_u] [name_u]Layne[/name_u] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]!” I really like the a/e/y pattern quite honestly. But maybe I’ll go by [name_u]Casey[/name_u] [name_u]Layne[/name_u] / [name_u]Casey[/name_u] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] a bit more often, and I definitely don’t plan on doing too many monograms, lmao. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] I was able to think about this early on, though!

Oh could you explain colt to me? I may not have thought of that one. I don’t actually mind cult that much haha! It’s a name change for me specifically, I actually do really enjoy more “gothic” things. (coincidentally I also do like, uh, women, so perhaps it’s kinda fitting lmao! If it was me forcing the name onto some other kid, I might have different thoughts.)

Don’t do it

I once saw a movie or read a book (I don’t remember) where the unfortunate initials popped up. The grandpa gave the kid the nickname [name_m]Colt[/name_m]. It helped that the kid had the energy and wildness of a young horse (colt). I guess it stuck with me.

Update to this situation! Decided I probably shouldn’t risk it, lmao. I still do love when initials spell out words and such, but not when those words are a bit less-than-savory, so- I’ve decided on [name_u]Casey[/name_u] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] instead!! (Initials CAT :revolving_hearts::revolving_hearts:) Not as much assonance but maybe it’s a bit better that it breaks the pattern a bit. Thank you to everyone who talked me into this! I still do love [name_u]Layne[/name_u], but [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is slightly more masculine, anyways, hopefully my dad won’t take too much issue with it haha. I appreciate the support so much, you all are lovely people! :purple_heart::dizzy::sparkles:

I’m honestly not even sure what CLT would be a reference to. I don’t typically find initials a problem unless they spell out a bad word or something extremely inappropriate.

My second born has ATM like an ATM machine lol

There’s the additional problem of it sounding a hell of a lot like Chasey Lain. I wouldn’t want that Bloodhound Gang song hanging over my head :frowning:… however, I think there are worse initial combos.
