Looking for a honor name for [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] and probably used as a middle.
The more unique the better, but not made up. I love historical/biblical names. Bonus points if its Scandinavian or Italian. Both heritages we’d love to honor as well. Preferably not ending in -ana,-ona or -ey sound. Is that picky enough?

Hmm… neither of these are great, but:
Annemieke ann-uh-MEEK-uh
- from the [name_f]Ann[/name_f](e) family, like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
- sounds like it could be scandi (it’s [name_m]Dutch[/name_m])
Narcissa
- has enough sounds in common
- historical
Other nice names from the [name_f]Ann[/name_f](e) family which counts onto very few of your points, but never mind:
[name_f]Nanon[/name_f]
[name_f]Anouk[/name_f]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
Nancy is a diminutive of [name_f]Ann[/name_f] and [name_f]Annis[/name_f] so maybe a variation of them
Anouk
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_f]Nanette[/name_f]
[name_f]Annelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
Nanouk
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
Constance maybe?

Annelise has the same meaning as [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] and is of Scandinavian origin, also pronounces well in Italian

I second [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]!
Annika is the first thing that pops into my head. [name_u]Cyan[/name_u] is also something a little different (kind of an anagram).
Also love the suggestions of [name_f]Anais[/name_f] and Nanouk!

What about [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f] or [name_f]Anya[/name_f]? they have the same meaning as [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
I have a family member, [name_f]Annunziata[/name_f] “[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]!” She changed her Italian name to be more [name_f]English[/name_f] friendly. That’s a clear link, but just be aware that [name_f]Annunziata[/name_f]/Annunciata is very religious (which doesn’t look like a problem for you).
The only one that I can think of is [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], which isn’t very unique sorry

@rosepip [name_f]Annemieke[/name_f] I do like. I mentioned it to DH and he just gave me a worried look. Maybe too out there for him
We’ve got a S LN, so [name_f]Narcissa[/name_f] may be too much S sounds. [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] is so cute! The [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] we want to honor goes by [name_f]Nan[/name_f]/Nanny (Great Grandmother) so [name_f]Nanon[/name_f] would be similar, but maybe too literal. It is nice though.
@Greyblue oooh, [name_f]Ines[/name_f]! I’m liking that! I love [name_f]Nanette[/name_f], is it too dowdy for a modern gal? [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] is one of my dream names, too bad DH has nixed it.
@princesspanda @ethelmary With our S LN, [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] runs on with it. I do like it though and knew a very sweet Anneliesse.
@Rainbowflowers I really like [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and it was my Grandma’s MN, the [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] we want to honor is on DH’s side. So that’d be two birds for sure, but [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is just so common as a middle. It’s almost come to feel like a filler name for me. [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is pretty!
@almostactually [name_f]Annunziata[/name_f], wow!
What a beautiful name. It feels so fancy when I say it. I wonder if DH would go for it. What a strong meaning as well, I do like that.

Like other have said it’s related to ‘[name_u]Anne[/name_u]’ an don’t you’via already got a lot of suggestions so I’ll just add…
Annevieve
[name_f]Annora[/name_f]
Also for what it’s worth, I would absolutely love to meet a little [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]! It would just match so well with all the [name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] & [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]’s!
Would like to second [name_f]Annalise[/name_f]/Anneliese and [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] (not too dowdy at all for a modern girl!).
I actually think [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] herself is ready for a comeback.
