[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I am a member of a Danish Facebook group and this night someone asked regarding female names! Preferably unique and when I saw the answers I was taken aback by how “common” they seemed to me.
What names do you consider common, but others consider unique?
The names I considered unique (from a Danish standpoint): Amaranth, Philyra, Friederieke, [name_f]Femke[/name_f], [name_f]Sarita[/name_f], [name_f]Iryssa[/name_f], [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f], [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f], [name_f]Raziella[/name_f], [name_f]Elva[/name_f]
I think [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is the most common. [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] I wouldn’t be surprised to hear. The rest I wouldn’t consider to be common in the US.
I guess it’s because I also have people around me with these name, so I see them more as common as others. However, seeing I’m not in the US but I could imagine how weird it would be if you met a [name_f]Silke[/name_f]. My niece is [name_f]Silke[/name_f] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] is my cat. ^^ - then I go to school with a [name_f]Xenia[/name_f] and [name_f]Florentina[/name_f].
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is very popular, and I can picture [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] being used here as a nn. The others would definitely be more unique. Amaranth makes me think of Amaranthe, the Swedish band
