Unisex Names & Spellings? (POLLS)

First, I know I have the slightly unpopular taste of unisex / make leaning names for girls, but hear me out!

I was thinking today about a name I read 20ish years ago in a Vera Bradley magazine, yes you saw right, but it was a little girl named Westyn. I know of another high school aged female Westyn and multiple male Weston’s, even one male spelled Westyn and another spelled Westin.

Using Weston as the example, a typical male name, does spelling make it intuitively more male or female or just kre8tiv?

Or one step further, which spelling would you use for a female?

  • Weston
  • Westyn
  • Westin
  • Westen

TIA! I’ve just been stewing on that all day!

I do think sometimes putting a Y into things does signal it’s probably being used an a girl. (Emersyn, [name_u]Tristyn[/name_u] etc) That said, I typically prefer the original spellings - i prefer how they look and think if you’re going to use a unisex name, you might as well go full out
