[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t think that it is sexist (aside from the [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u] thing), just Annoying. There’s nothing wrong with it, in Fact, I am going to use some Unisex names myself. It’s just a forum of opinions and names that one might think shouldnt be Unisex. No claims. No Revolutions.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] fun in games…
Thank you.
Very helpful.
Finally have it figured out and personalized. ![]()
If you are trying to add to your signature go to “settings”, then “edit signature” on the left under profile.
At the top of this page in very tiny print it says [name_f]WELCOME[/name_f] and at the far right Settings, but when I click this, there is nothing about a signature anywhere.
I have been using the green tab that says My Stuff. I created several name lists there, but today they are all gone.
I added a profile picture when I joined but where is it?

About unisex names…
Many years ago it was the “thing to do” to talk to your unborn child. Since parents has NO IDEA as to the gender of their unborn child it was suggested that they choose a unisex name to use when speaking to the unborn. Some authority suggested that then the child would recognize its name at birth. Most babies were named [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] at this time.
Years passed. First it became possible to scan the mother and make a good guess. Now it seems the view is so clear that not only is the sex known, but there are even photos to share!
So at this point there is really no longer any reason to deliberately choose a neuter name!!!
However, there really are some names on which people disagree. [name_u]Dana[/name_u] is one. I know a girl and also a boy. Neither set of parents intended to give a neuter name. In fact I believe they would insist they got it right and might even be surprised that the name had been used on the opposite sex. This is also true for [name_u]Reilly[/name_u].
Now [name_u]Reilly[/name_u] is part of the expression “Livin’ the life of [name_u]Reilly[/name_u]” which means basically a lazy slob. When I heard it on a boy I was horrified. When I heard it on a girl… all I could think was “all riled up”. But we do get used to any names on real live babies.
I actually don’t think there are enough completely unisex names. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. I identify as genderqueer, and typically unisex names lean towards one gender or the other, making it annoying when you are trying to express that you don’t want to be seen as either. This is more the fault of people being so desperately terrified of things not fitting on a neat binary, but more [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]-type names would really help. I really wish all names were gender neutral and you could just throw them on whatever gender you’d like without anybody caring. But that’s clearly not going to happen, so there’s my opinion :).
I don’t typically love unisex names, but I’m much more likely to use them on boys than girls. The three that I have on both lists are [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u] and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] which still lean more male. I also have [name_u]Noel[/name_u] and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], but [name_u]Noel[/name_u] is pronounced “nole”. The “no-el” pronunciation is all girl to me. Unisex names on my boy list are: [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], and [name_u]Seren[/name_u].
I always thought [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] was of a girl’s name
and my middle is [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] so I ascociate it with a girls name, but can be boy too.
I like [name_u]Noel[/name_u] for a boy too and [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] for a girl
I don’t like [name_u]Riley[/name_u] for a girl
You’re welcome!
When you are on the settings page you have to look on the left. There’s a section that says “My Messages” below that is “My Subscriptions”. Then, there’s “My Settings” which has a subsection called “My profile”. Under there are the options: [name_f]Edit[/name_f] Profile, [name_f]Edit[/name_f] Profile Picture, [name_f]Edit[/name_f] Avatar, [name_f]Edit[/name_f] Signature, and Profile Privacy. Click on [name_f]Edit[/name_f] Signature.
I just learned of a new [name_u]Unisex[/name_u] name, [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. Can someone explain this one to me? Lol. Having a hard time grasping this one. . . . . Certainly an Interesting choice.
p.s. didn’t mean to quote you ottertails, sorry.
[name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is used as a nn for [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] (e.g., [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] “[name_u]Stevie[/name_u]” Nicks).
[name_u]Jamie[/name_u] was popular for girls back in the '70s after it was used for the Bionic Woman (although her name was spelled [name_u]Jaime[/name_u], IIRC).
In its homeland ([name_m]Wales[/name_m]), [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is a boy’s name. In the US, it’s been used more for girls, although my brother had a good friend in high school (male) who was named [name_u]Morgan[/name_u].
In my high school there were no girl Jordans, but two boy Jordans (back in the late '70s). The only Jordans I know today are around my daughter’s age (senior in high school) & they’re all female.
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] was a boy’s name originally. It’s a contraction of [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Denis[/name_m] (St. [name_m]Dennis[/name_m]). [name_m]Charles[/name_m] Dickens used [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] as the hero’s name in A Tale of Two Cities.
[name_u]January[/name_u] is unisex…
I can only imagine it on a girl, anyone else have any opinions on gender neutral [name_u]January[/name_u]?
Most unisex names I like for either gender; [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u]/[name_f]Robyn[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Bobby[/name_u]/[name_u]Bobbie[/name_u], [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_u]Billie[/name_u]/[name_u]Billy[/name_u], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]/[name_f]Ashleigh[/name_f], [name_m]Brogan[/name_m], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]/[name_u]Jaymee[/name_u].
However, these are ones I strictly like for one or the other;
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Riley[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Madison[/name_u]/[name_f]Maddison[/name_f] (f, only because the male [name_u]Madison[/name_u] I know is ghastly)
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u] (f)
[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (f)
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Shannon[/name_u] (f)
[name_u]Courtney[/name_u] (f)
[name_u]Jodie[/name_u] (f)
[name_f]Kimberley[/name_f] (f)
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f] (f)
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (f)
[name_u]Jaime[/name_u] vs [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]
“aimer” stands for both ‘to like’ and ‘to love’ in [name_m]French[/name_m]. So j’aime means ‘I like’ or ‘I love’.
[name_u]Jaime[/name_u]…I love… is my choice for feminine.
[name_u]Jamie[/name_u], a contraction of [name_u]James[/name_u] would be what I might call a boy, but old-fashioned [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] is pretty cute!
There’s a lot of Unisex names that I didn’t know about.
My least favorite names are [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] and [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], and they both happen to be unisex. :-? I feel like they should both belong to boys, but I still don’t like them either way, lol.
[name_u]Billy[/name_u]/[name_u]Billie[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Bobby[/name_u]/[name_f]Bobbi[/name_f] (m)
[name_u]Jo[/name_u]/[name_m]Joe[/name_m] (m)
[name_f]Cori[/name_f]/[name_u]Corey[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Tristen[/name_u] (f)
[name_u]August[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] (m)
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] (f)
I just realized that the name [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], appears to be of the yellow-orange color Nameberry uses to identify Unisex names.
Any thoughts? I find this one a little out there and similar to the [name_u]James[/name_u] scenario.
Does anyone else agree that [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] should be kept strictly for Girls?
