Are there any unisex names in the western world that have been unisex for longer than a century?
I know that a lot of nicknames have been traditionally used for both genders (or rather as nicknames for the female and male version of the same name) and I know that some languages have names that are pronounced the same but spelled diffrently (André/Andrée…) but are there any names that have been used for both genders for a long time without any spelling variations for either gender or the name leaning towards one side? Only one I can think of rn is Maria/Marie as a religious name in the middle spot are there any more that got maybe lost in history?
Perhaps Francis and Frances - both have been used as masc and fem names but i guess it doesn’t quite count as Frances leans more fem. I will think more on it
