Yes, me too!! Mine was from the Serafina series.
That’s the exact book I’m talking about too!! That book fascinated me and introduced me to [name_f]Serafina[/name_f] as a name!
It did the same for me! Great minds think alike
I’ve always loved [name_m]Lucious[/name_m]! I know it’s one letter away from ‘luscious’ but that’s never bothered me. Also, Loona is a character from one of my favourite series: Helluva [name_m]Boss[/name_m], and I honestly prefer that spelling to [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite spelling is Évelyne and I would actually use it if I lived in a Francophone country. [name_f]Evelyne[/name_f] / Évelyne (with or sans accent) always my favourite spelling and it is on my list too.
[name_f]Evelyne[/name_f] = Évelyne > [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] = Éveline > [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (g)
imo
I agree with other posters that [name_m]Sylas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] seem like more intuitive spellings to me.
I typically prefer the traditional spellings of names, but some - especially some gender neutral names - seem to be better fits. One spelling for boys and another for girls. For example, [name_m]Weston[/name_m] (b) and [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] (g) or [name_u]Emory[/name_u] (b) and [name_u]Emery[/name_u] (g).
I also like the more unpopular spellings of [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_u]Rylee[/name_u], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], same as many others.
Some more I’d forgotten about:
[name_f]Lucie[/name_f] - I do love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] but [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] has an extra spark and feels so much brighter and more open
[name_u]Olly[/name_u]/[name_f]Elly[/name_f] - very much prefer these to [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] (especially [name_f]Elly[/name_f] vs Ellie)
[name_f]El[/name_f]/[name_f]Ell[/name_f] - I’ve never really liked [name_f]Elle[/name_f] but I love [name_f]El[/name_f] (like the letter) and [name_f]Ell[/name_f] (like the measure of length)
So beautiful
I’m back to add Maizy and Rosy
personally one of my favorite unpopular spellings is averie! something about that ending makes it seem so magical and airy. i believe a user on here had a daughter with the name, which is where i first saw it
I love:
- dropping the “h” when the “h” is more common (Tomas, Debora)
- silent “h” (Nathaly, Nohely)
- single “l” over double “ll” endings (Michele, Gisele)
- “ou” names over their “u” counterparts (Louna, Loubna, Amadou)
- “k” over “c” in the middle or at the end of a name (Frederik, [name_f]Bianka[/name_f], Erika)
- “-y,” “-i,” and “-ee” spellings when “-ie” is more common (Rosaly, [name_f]Rosali[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalee[/name_f] > Rosalie)
Some of these spellings are standard in some parts of the world, but might get called creative or alternative where I live.
@Elle1, [name_f]Lailah[/name_f] is gorgeous, I saw your post and added it to my list!
Yay! I’m so happy to pass along such a great name!
The NB description for the Lailah says, “Almost any other Leila variation would be better.” So I guess it truly belongs on this thread
Here’s a few I either like or prefer (keeping in mind some of these are more international than necessarily “unique” spellings and I want to give proper respect to that fact):
[name_m]Aksel[/name_m] (Axel)
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Alissa[/name_f]
[name_u]Alix[/name_u] / [name_f]Alyx[/name_f]
[name_f]Alys[/name_f] (Alice)
[name_f]Anja[/name_f] (Anya)
[name_f]Brigitte[/name_f]
[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Dayna[/name_f] (Dana)
[name_m]Derrick[/name_m]
[name_u]Ely[/name_u] (Eli)
[name_f]Jorja[/name_f]
[name_f]Kassia[/name_f]
[name_f]Kellie[/name_f]
Kiely
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Liane[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadiya[/name_f]
[name_f]Nastassja[/name_f] (Natasha)
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f] (Neve)
[name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] or [name_m]Nikolas[/name_m]
[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
[name_f]Renae[/name_f]
[name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]
[name_m]Thom[/name_m]
[name_m]Ulises[/name_m]
[name_m]Viktor[/name_m]
[name_f]Wynona[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoie[/name_f]
Astur is cute! Usually I like more commonly used spellings, but I strongly prefer [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and [name_f]Elyse[/name_f].
not sure if this counts but i love names that have the letter y or k where the normal spelling has an a/e/i/c, i.e. gwynevere, viktor, fredrik, margeryt, henryk. they just look funkier
The first one that comes to mind for me is [name_f]Elidi[/name_f]
For the [name_u]Irish[/name_u] [name_f]Ciara[/name_f], I vastly would prefer [name_f]Kira[/name_f] or just [name_f]Keira[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I also say [name_f]Keira[/name_f] as kee-AIR-ah.
[name_m]Sylas[/name_m] is a solid spelling for [name_m]Silas[/name_m] imo.
I’ve seen a few different spellings for [name_f]Isis[/name_f], and Iysis is kinda ugly but it draws me in.
I love [name_f]Ines[/name_f] / Inés. [name_f]Inez[/name_f] is just okay.
Yes, I prefer both of these too!
