Unsure about a name for a female protagonist

I’m writing a humorous story that is loosely based on my life in high school. There are two names that I like for a main character but I can’t make up my mind: [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. Her last name is [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]. She is a shy quite girl with a witty sense of humor that often catches people off guard. Miss [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] is very intelligent and a science fiction nerd. She is also the teacher’s favorite student. Her hair is reddish brown with matching eyes and she is really pale with freckles. Does she seem like a [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or a [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] (nickname [name_f]Ginny[/name_f])?

I like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] ([name_f]Ginny[/name_f]). As I was reading your post, I was thinking [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], and then you mentioned using it as a nickname at the end

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] doesn’t read as shy to me. For some reason, I think of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] as a big, outgoing personality kind of name.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

Oooh, tha’s hard. I love [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], but [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] fits really well. Maybe [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]? [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]? Lol.

I think… my mind tells me… [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. :frowning: Either seem like perfect fits, though!

I would be weary of using [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] for a girl with reddish brown hair… It’s bound to bring up associations with just about anyone that has read [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is a lovely name. I think both fit, I just wouldn’t use the nickname [name_f]Ginny[/name_f].

Definitely [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] sounds like the girl you described

[name_f]Virginia[/name_f], all the way. However I’d stay away from the nickname [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]. Its far to associated with [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. The girl you described sounds like the type of person who would go by her full name anyway. Maybe those closest to her call her V or [name_f]Virgie[/name_f]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought.

I like [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], but not [name_f]Ginny[/name_f].

[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]. Since [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] is in [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] you should spell it [name_f]Ginnie[/name_f], or [name_f]Ginni[/name_f].

I think Daphné. [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] is really pretty, but I guess Daphné is more fresh.
