When deciding on my son’s name, we wanted to choose a name that…
- isn’t too trendy
- is unlikely to be in class with another child with the same name
- is common/straight forward enough that people in our small town won’t be confused by the pronunciation or spelling
- doesn’t channel/evoke a certain type of stereotype (i.e. preppy, musical, jock, etc.)
- ages well
We landed on [name_u]Nolan[/name_u]. There’s really no room for mispronunciation or confusion about spelling. Neither of us had ever met a [name_u]Nolan[/name_u] before and we thought it was as handsome for an adult as it is cute for a little boy. Obviously there is a famous former professional athlete with the name, but we didn’t feel like that automatically made the name carry that stereotype. I chose the middle name [name_u]Grey[/name_u] to honor my husband. Although it is on the popular side right now, I don’t mind as much because it’s his middle name and it has a special meaning to us.
Finally, getting to the point - we are expecting again! And I struggle a little with sibling names that pair well with his name because I internationally sought out a name that didn’t give me any certain type of vibes! I want him to choose who he wants to be and it not feel like his name doesn’t “fit” if he isn’t what the name implies, if that makes sense. So, if you were naming a sibling for [name_u]Nolan[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], what would you call them? Gender TBD, so I’d love suggestions for both! TIA
