[name_m]Hi[/name_m] All
First time momma to be
Driving myself insane trying to choose a name.
[name_u]Baby[/name_u]’s surname will be Rankin, so was looking for baby girls name with R.
Also obsessed with butterfly’s since I’ve gotten pregnant so wanted to a name related to that
So far I’ve kind of between the below
What’s your opinions
Welcome!
I so appreciate the surname being part of this post! I think it’s such an important component of the overall picture.
I’ve never seen [name_f]Rhia[/name_f] before - I like it OK but I would expect it to be spelled [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] a frustrating amount of the time. Would you consider [name_f]Rhea[/name_f], with either the RAY-uh or REE-uh pronunciation?
Bowy runs the risk of being spelled [name_u]Bowie[/name_u] a lot of the time, so much so that I would just use [name_u]Bowie[/name_u] if that was a name I was considering. (I’m assuming that both are pronounced BO-ee?)
Zaia is interesting to me! ZYE-uh? It might be my favourite of this list.
Some R names for you to chew on:
Raya Rankin (RYE-uh, a Hebrew name meaning “friend” - this feels good to me for you since you like [name_f]Rhia[/name_f] and Zaia and wanted an R name)
[name_u]Romy[/name_u] Rankin (on its own or as a nickname for [name_f]Ramona[/name_f])
[name_u]Raven[/name_u] Rankin (I’m going back and forth on whether this is great or whether the two names are too similar)
[name_f]Rania[/name_f] Rankin
Other suggestions that start with R:
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]/Rubi
[name_f]Rezi[/name_f]
[name_f]Riva[/name_f]/Reeva
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Rozlyn[/name_f]/Rozlin
[name_f]Ruelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Regina[/name_f]
I really like Bowy [name_u]Rue[/name_u] Rankin, I’ve never heard it before and it sounds lovely!
Some other names
Remy
[name_f]Rihanna[/name_f]
[name_m]Raylen[/name_m]
[name_f]Reine[/name_f]/ [name_u]Reign[/name_u]
[name_f]Rianne[/name_f]
Romnie/ Romny
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] (I know it doesn’t start with ‘R’ but it has the sound)
[name_f]Wrenley[/name_f]/ [name_u]Renley[/name_u]
I hope this has helped you or given you some more inspo
I love [name_u]Rue[/name_u]! It’s soooo delicate and beautiful.
I’ll give you a few more ideas:
Yara (meaning “little butterfly” in arabic. In my culture’s folklore, [name_f]Yara[/name_f] is also the name of a siren and means “water lady”.)
[name_f]Kimana[/name_f] (native american name, meaning “butterfly”)
[name_f]Chrysalis[/name_f] (chrysalis is a hard-shelled pupa in which the transition of the butterfly or moth takes place)
Motyl (butterfly in Polish)
Hmm maybe play around with Google Translate and the word “butterfly.” I don’t know what background you all are, but maybe there is one translation that could work for your family?
Norwegian is sommerfugl - So the name [name_f]Sommer[/name_f] or [name_f]Summer[/name_f] could be a nod to your love of butterflies?
I think your list is quite cute! I like Bowy, but prefer it spelled [name_u]Bowie[/name_u] and I love [name_u]Rue[/name_u]! I would struggle a bit to find the correct pronounciation for [name_f]Rhia[/name_f] - is it [name_u]Rye[/name_u]-ah or [name_f]Ree[/name_f]-ah (I think this one sounds a bit softer and more inviting…) ? - and I think Zaia could run into similar problems (I would say something along the lines of Zah-ya). But I like Zaia and I think it sounds good with your last name.
For R names I also like
Romy
[name_u]Rumi[/name_u]
[name_u]Romilly[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] (or any [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-name, really)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_u]Rio[/name_u] (I have seen it used for girls, too)
[name_u]Rain[/name_u]
[name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Roxy[/name_f]
I especially like [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Yara[/name_f] and [name_u]Indra[/name_u] for you + I think that [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Posy[/name_f] could be really sweet as well
