Unusual names that are common in your area?

[name]Do[/name] you guys know of any names that are low or absent from the national rankings, but seem really common in your community?

[name]Azalea[/name], [name]Sage[/name] (for boys), [name]Corrine[/name], [name]Randy[/name] (for girls) are reasonably popular here, mostly in my age group (college).

Some popular names in our area are: [name]Siri[/name] and [name]Lena[/name] for Girls … [name]Jeremy[/name] and [name]Xavier[/name] for boys

Well, I don’t know that it would be considered common anywhere else, but up here I know of 3 Kestrels (which feels like a lot to me), though I believe one is spelled Kestryl. Kestrel was always my secret name; I’d never heard it before moving up here and then bam, 2 right away, followed by another one a couple years ago. Too many for a state as small as mine, especially for a name as unusual as Kestrel. Plus, one of the Kestrel’s mother used to work where I worked, though she was long gone before I started. [name]How[/name] does that happen?! Oh life and the funny little patterns you make.

I know three Kestrels too! I also know three Forrests – one a girl. Two guys named [name]Ezra[/name] and two named [name]Atticus[/name], all in their 20s. Several Zoes, also in their 20s, and three Mollys. [name]Lydia[/name]: 2, [name]Isabel[/name]: 2, [name]Naomi[/name]: 2.

Oh, and [name]Alana[/name]! I know at least three Alanas. AND girls named [name]Justice[/name] and [name]India[/name].

The names Sativa and [name]Indica[/name] are probably more common in my area than anywhere else I know/know of 3 Sativa’s and 3 [name]Indica[/name]'s; they are types of marijuana plants if you didn’t know. I find it pretty crazy but it is not surprising really considering where I live- the ultimate super hippie land. Also [name]Forrest[/name] is quite common but mostly as a middle name, I know 4 new baby boys with [name]Forrest[/name] as a middle name.

Funny, I was just thinking about this yesterday when I got a new kid in my class. [name]Blakely[/name]. I’d never heard that name before I lived here (where it’s the name of a state park and a prominent local family), but there are several (all girls) at this school alone. For perspective, in our whole student body there is one [name]Wendy[/name], one [name]Justine[/name], six Blakelys.

I know two boys my age (14) named [name]Atticus[/name], as well as three Gwendolyns and lots of Vivians.

I have met a lot of Aftons (age twentyish, female). And Duncans for young boys lately!!!

I’ve run into a lit of nature type names like [name]Lake[/name] and [name]Fisher[/name]. Also net a [name]Palmer[/name] with a brother named [name]Paxton[/name].
