Unusual, nature-inspired boy's name

Hello! I am here to ask for help again! FYI I am not pregnant at this time.

I am looking for a boy’s name to match my daughter’s- [name_f]Adia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. [name_f]Adia[/name_f] (sounds like [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]) is connected to adiantum (maiden hair fern) and is particularly meaningful because we had been trying to conceive for quite a while; it finally happened when we were on our 2-year delayed honeymoon in the [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Northwest (we saw A LOT OF [name_f]FERN[/name_f] and I even brought some home with us). Her middle name is based on a native wildflower that was blooming when she was born. It is also a reference to my middle name.

We are looking for something similarly unusual with a nature connection, preferably spunky or whimsical. Preferably 4-ish letters with 3 syllables (I want his name to be similarly elaborate and rich). I am thinking of another native [name_u]Texas[/name_u] wildflower for a middle name- Lupine. *Edit: Are there other wildflower middle names you all suggest?

Suggestions? Thoughts? Am I in over my head trying to match AP?

Thank you all so much!

Your daughters name is beautiful!!

@wilkie8709- You are wonderful! There are several gems here. Cadeaux, [name_m]Connal[/name_m], and Durian are all new to me. Fascinating sounds. I especially love the idea of [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] as a [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] and [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] as a [name_u]Perry[/name_u]. Both are very energetic. [name_m]Orson[/name_m] and [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] are my favorites from your list. Thank you so much for the suggestions!

I love the suggestion of [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] but I love the nickname [name_m]Penn[/name_m] for it.

[name_f]Oriole[/name_f]/[name_f]Oriel[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Ori[/name_u]/Orry/etc. is adorable)
[name_u]Sorrel[/name_u]
[name_m]Pacific[/name_m]
Kestrel (a bird)
[name_m]Koa[/name_m] (a Hawaiian tree)
Hickory
[name_u]Canyon[/name_u]
[name_m]Tide[/name_m]
[name_m]Cove[/name_m]
Wave

Sorry. I’m trying to stick to your guidelines but that is a tough one. Good luck!

[name_f]Adia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is so beautiful!

[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_f]Azure[/name_f]
[name_u]Echo[/name_u]
Falco
Fero or Ferro (as in iron)
[name_m]Fiero[/name_m] (reminds me of fire)
[name_u]Halcyon[/name_u]
Hollin (borrowed from Tolkien, who used it for an area filled with holly trees)
[name_m]Muir[/name_m]

Other [name_u]Texas[/name_u] wildflowers that could work in the middle:

[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
Larkspur
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
Vervain

I’m pretty sure I’m mispronouncing Cadeaux. I say it as Kade-o “Cade” but after looking into i think it’s suppose to be Kad-o. Perhaps Cato instead.

Also

Riordan Larkspur “Rio”
Roarke Indigo
Faolán Lupine
Everhart Sage “Ever”
Lev Lupine
Oberon Sage “Bear” “Obie” (means bear like)

[name_f]Adia[/name_f] &

[name_u]Denali[/name_u] -name of a mountain in [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m] “sun”
[name_m]Esker[/name_m] -the name for a ridge of gravel or sand
Larimar -a beautiful blue gemstone
[name_m]Leonel[/name_m] “lion”
[name_m]Lonan[/name_m] “little blackbird”
[name_m]Makai[/name_m] “seaward”
[name_m]Matai[/name_m] -a coniferous tree that grows in [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand
Wolfram “wolf-raven”

I couldn’t come up with many 4 letter, 3 syllable, natural connection, names. There may be more out there yet, but they are a bit of a tough find!
All the best.

@shanade213 - No apology needed, you are wonderful! I am very attracted to [name_f]Oriole[/name_f] and Hickory. Those are so charismatic and full of character. And many of the others you listed are being added to my favorite middle names list. Thank you so much. Your signature names are jaw-drop-worthy. [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_u]Denali[/name_u], [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] Valkyrie!!!

@ceryle - So many of these names resonate with me. I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_f]AZURE[/name_f]. Sadly, my neighbor has a little boy with that name. My nephew is named [name_u]Hollis[/name_u], or I would absolutely jump on Hollin. What a sweet sound! [name_u]Halcyon[/name_u] is superb. [name_m]Muir[/name_m] is a great namesake. Great additions to the [name_u]Texas[/name_u] wildflowers. And your name lists are just fantastic to look through. Thank you for your contributions!

@wilkie8709 - Fantastic second round. Once again, several that are new to me! [name_m]Riordan[/name_m] Larkspur is incredibly dashing. [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] feels so artistically balanced. [name_m]Everhart[/name_m] is fascinating. Thank you a ton for all of your suggestions!

@columbiacharm - I think you are right and that I need to loosen up the guidelines. You put together a fabulous list. I have been thinking a lot about [name_m]Elio[/name_m]. I think it comes closest to fitting the mold. But it just lacks a bit of spark, you know? I especially love [name_m]Esker[/name_m] and Larimar. Like, holy cow I love those. [name_m]Lonan[/name_m] and Wolfram are excellent, as well. Thank you for your response!

Perhaps [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], for the tree? It’s only two syllables, but for me at least the long o sound in the first syllable makes the name “carry” a bit.

Or maybe…

[name_u]Oak[/name_u], [name_u]Ash/name_u, [name_u]Elm[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_u]Brook/name_u, [name_m]Beech[/name_m], [name_m]Birch[/name_m], [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] (these are sort of standard-issue & not creative, but are nature-themed)
Larch, [name_u]Linden[/name_u], [name_m]Tamarack[/name_m], Buckeye (trees); [name_m]Fraser[/name_m], [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] (types of fir)
[name_m]Colton[/name_m] (young horse)
[name_m]Willem[/name_m] (Dutch version of [name_m]William[/name_m], from Sweet [name_m]William[/name_m] the flower)
[name_m]Bow[/name_m] (for a bend in a river, or for a bow made from the yew tree)
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] (bows & arrows again)
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] (means hawk)
[name_u]Quince[/name_u] (type of shrub)
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] (a river; also, Hudsonia is a type of shrub)
Chert, [name_m]Clay/name_m, [name_m]Coal[/name_m], [name_u]Slate[/name_u], [name_m]Flint[/name_m], [name_m]Granite[/name_m], Karst, [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] (rocks/gems)
[name_m]Tor[/name_m], Drumlin, [name_f]Firth[/name_f] (landscape names)
[name_m]Brant[/name_m], Dunlin, [name_m]Crane[/name_m], [name_u]Gannet[/name_u], [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] (types of birds)

I like how [name_m]Cove[/name_m] Lupine sounds. Almost like a type of seashore lupine.

[name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u]
Wheatley
Alder
[name_u]Sorrel[/name_u]
[name_u]Blaze[/name_u]
[name_m]Flint[/name_m]
[name_u]Canyon[/name_u]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m]
Hemlock
[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
Hawken
[name_m]Talon[/name_m]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]

my first thoughts went to adventurous or traveller over nature…

[name_m]Kymani[/name_m], Somerled or [name_f]Sojourner[/name_f] … also [name_m]Romeo[/name_m]?

but more nature inspired…

Hawksley
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m]
[name_m]Hadrian[/name_m]

I feel like someone needs to suggest [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] as a potential [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] nickname.

@bobcat108- [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is absolutely stunning. I really like the variety of your suggestions. Larch and [name_u]Linden[/name_u], [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], and [name_m]Granite[/name_m]! Karst and [name_u]Slate[/name_u] are great, too. Thank you so much!

@cocoapuff- [name_m]Cove[/name_m] Lupine is indeed very charming! Such a peaceful and melodic image. Thanks!

@l_e_d2009- A lovely list! [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Heath[/name_m], [name_u]Cedar[/name_u], and Alder are magnificent. I know a [name_m]Forest[/name_m], [name_u]Orion[/name_u], and a [name_u]Canyon[/name_u]. Hemlock and Hawken are really great, too. I appreciate your suggestions!

@yogi.kiki- [name_m]Kymani[/name_m] and Somerled are both new to me. Great sounds and I like the adventurous connection. Your list is pretty spot-on. I adore [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] but sadly it won’t work with either of our last names. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] is one of my absolute favorites. And [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] is very handsome. Thank you for your recommendations!

@amber w- [name_m]Pippin[/name_m] is a fantastic nickname. I think it definitely works for [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]!

I love nature names! [name_f]Adia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is lovely and your story behind it is so cool.

[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] - western meadow

[name_u]Linden[/name_u] - type of tree
[name_m]Eben[/name_m] - stone

[name_f]Indy[/name_f] - From [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] - fortified hill
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m] - yew tree

My favorites…

[name_f]Adia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_m]Arno[/name_m] Lupine

@namelover0711- Thank you for these fantastic possibilities! [name_m]Arno[/name_m] Lupine is so dashing and really strikes a perfect chord. I do like [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] as well. Others that are particularly lovely: [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Also, your signature names are stunning! [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u], and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_u]Everly[/name_u] are at once grounded, yet imaginative and lively. Well done!
