Update on top 8/ middle names

Thank you to everyone who gave their thoughts about our top 8 girls names!
We put a lot of thought into narrowing down to just 8! (Some of my favorites were vetoed, and I said no to some of his suggestions too).

Elsie, Lucy, and Eva were from my list. Rose (nn Rosie) and Jane are names that we both like. Molly, Sophie, and Zelda were on his list.

My personal favorite is Elsie. She has been on my list for years, and it is really special to me because it is the name of my beloved grandma who passed away in 2019. I also used Elsie as a pen name for a while, and I just love how happy and cheerful it sounds. (Just like my grandma- who was one the happiest people you’d ever meet!) My husband is lukewarm about Elsie
I originally wanted to take off Zelda, but he really loves that name, so I decided to give it a chance. And…I have to say, it’s really grown on me!!
So has Sophie. I like that Sophie means wisdom, and it makes me think of the French countryside.
Really, I love all the names on our top 8. Here’s what I have for middle names so far for each of the top 8:

Rose Madeline
Elsie Clementine/ Matilde (pronounced like Matilda, Matilde with an E is a family name)
Eva Charlotte
Jane Lydia
Lucy Christine/ Cordelia
Molly Christine/ Evangeline

Names I don’t have a solid middle name for…

Sophie
I think I want to find another beautiful french name to accent Sophie.
Maybe:
Sophie Camille
Sophie Catherine
Sophie Charlotte
Sophie Colette
Sophie Madeleine
Sophie Maribelle
Sophie Matilde

I would consider Lavender, or Lorraine, but I don’t want the initials SLS (stands for sodium Laurel sulfate)
SOS is also a no.

Zelda
I think I’d want to pick a less-adventurous middle name for Zelda, to sort of balance it out. Or, I could go all-out on the warrior-princess theme and go with the lovely Zelda Astrid :star_struck:. (I think I saw this idea somewhere on nameberry! I love it!)

Thank you!!

Elsie [name_f]Matilde[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], & [name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] are all so lovely! I also quite like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], while I like both names, just doesn’t flow quite right, imho.

For [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], any of those middles would work, but [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Matilde[/name_f] would probably be my favorite.
Fwiw, I think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] would work, too – perhaps a perfect balance?

I absolutely LOVE the name [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]. It seems the exact opposite of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] which sound mild and meek, while [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] sounds spunky, smart, and determined.
