Updated shortlist

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! It’s been awhile. I’m surprised that it’s taken me this long into COVID to get a real name itch going. I’ll try to keep this on the shorter side but right now I’m looking for some feedback on a few boy names that I’m mulling over. For some context, the surname would be @rchib@ld; my name rhymes with [name_f]Leela[/name_f] but starts with “Sh”; my husband is [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]-with-a-K; our cat is [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] and our dog is [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]. It’s important to me that names be versatile (they have to pass the [name_m]President[/name_m] Or [name_m]Rock[/name_m] [name_f]Star[/name_f] test).

[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] (is this becoming more popular than I think?)
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] (love this but bought a house last year and our next door neighbour is a woman named [name_f]Robyn[/name_f]. We’re friendly but would it be weird to use this in light of that?)
[name_u]Davis[/name_u] (a family surname that I’m liking right now - could see this as a first or middle)

The longer list includes [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. I’d be up for using two middle names - possible family middle names include [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Milton[/name_m], [name_u]Stanley[/name_u], or [name_u]Davis[/name_u] again, and the dark horse too-weird-to-be-a-first-name-where-we-live-and-kind-of-clunky-with-the-surname-but-I-love-it-anyway Somerled.

I love [name_u]Davis[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].

I love [name_u]Barrett[/name_u]!! It’s on my list as well, but it’s an old family surname for me so it would make it that much more special.

Barrett [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] [name_u]Davis[/name_u] both work really well!

I love [name_u]Barrett[/name_u]!!!

Graham [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] Somerland (love this)

Barrett [name_u]Davis[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_m]Milton[/name_m]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_m]Milton[/name_m] [name_u]Davis[/name_u]

I love [name_u]Barrett[/name_u]!

Ooh Somerled!

I love seeing this considered, one of my favourite obscure boy names. Definitely put it in the middle even if it feels too brave for a first

Have you considered the slightly simpler version: [name_m]Sorley[/name_m]? I love that too, and considering you like [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] and [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u], it might appeal?

I also love [name_u]Robin[/name_u] (I don’t think the neighbour is an issue), [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] from your family names list. [name_u]Davis[/name_u] is also great and has that family connection going for it too.

My personal top picks would be [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] Somerled or [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] Somerled. I like the [name_u]Robin[/name_u] combo maybe slightly more, but I think [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] sounds awesome with your surname and I love it for a boy!

I’m getting quite a Scottish vibe from your choices and your family’s names overall, so apologies if these stray too far in that direction!

Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

Thanks for this!
I’m super fond of several of the names you listed ([name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]! [name_u]Rory[/name_u]! [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]! [name_m]Bennet[/name_m]!) and I find it funny that you’re getting a Scottish vibe, because I have a ton of Scottish heritage but never set out to incorporate it into my name choices… so I guess it just seeped in.

Sorley isn’t my cup of tea - the [name_u]Stanley[/name_u] is a family name that wouldn’t otherwise make it onto my list and that I’d only use as a middle - but I would be awfully proud of myself to get to use Somerled!
