Y’all! How would you update or honor the name [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_m]Kirk[/name_m]? I love the idea of naming a future son for my dad but I’m not in love with his actual name.

Kirk means church, which is the same meaning of Cillian and similar to the meaning of Callaghan so you could go for one of those? As for Richard, my only idea is honouring it through another Ri- name like River. Or maybe Arden, for the -ard ending. Shepherd?

[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] is “son of Hudd” which was an old nickname for [name_m]Richard[/name_m] (and Hugh) always thought that would be a cute way to do a subtle honour!
Maybe [name_m]Keir[/name_m] as an honor to [name_m]Kirk[/name_m]? [name_m]Kirkland[/name_m]? [name_u]Kerr[/name_u]?
Perhaps [name_m]Rich[/name_m], [name_m]Richie[/name_m], [name_m]Richardson[/name_m]?
I also found [name_m]Raychard[/name_m], which is apparently of Arabic origin and means “having good judgment”.
