So I urgently need help with my first baby boy’s name. He was due yesterday, still no signs, but we cannot decide on a name for him and I’m now starting to panic.
I had so many beautiful girls names but as soon as I found out he was a boy I couldn’t think of anything I particularly liked.
[name_u]Baby[/name_u]'s sirname is [name_m]Power[/name_m] which means a lot of first names ie [name_m]Will[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_m]Austin[/name_m] etc have to be automatically ruled out for obvious reasons!
The names at the top of the list which we agree on to a certain extent are [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] (Short for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]) and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] but I don’t think we are in love with them?
Other names I like which he isn’t so keen on are [name_u]Noah[/name_u] (not sure this goes with [name_m]Power[/name_m]?), [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_m]Diego[/name_m] (possibly too exotic), [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_m]Heath[/name_m], [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] & [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (worried it will be shortened to [name_u]Val[/name_u] so possible better suited to a middle name).
He likes very out there names like [name_m]Merlin[/name_m], Gallahad, [name_u]Sterling[/name_u], [name_m]Montague[/name_m] etc. Basically anything Arthurian and old fashioned.
Middle names we like are [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] but would also consider any of the above.
Please can you all give me your honest opinions, particularly on the top three, and let me know if you think they are too common or go with the sirname and which combinations of all names mentioned you think work best etc. Very anxious now that his arrival is imminent and we don’t have the perfect name picked out so any input would be massively appreciated.
I instantly noticed that the -per in [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] runs into [name_m]Power[/name_m], I dislike that sound and repetitive nature so that would rule out [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] for me.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is a great name but it almost sounds cartoonish when you say [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Power[/name_m]!! in an excited voice.
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Power[/name_m] sounds great, I think it’s your best option of your top three.
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Power[/name_m] is a solid, handsome name. I don’t love [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] but it’s not terrible.
I like [name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Power[/name_m]. I also like [name_u]Seth[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m].
I think your surname is fabulous and needs a first that compliments it and grounds it - I personally wouldn’t choose something overly unique because it turns the surname into a comic book character. I grew up with a girl with the last name Paradise - so cool - her name was [name_u]Ali[/name_u] (this was the 80s).
[name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Power[/name_m] was my first thought. [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] seems to be a good balance between you and your husbands styles. Some other ideas:
[name_u]Rowen[/name_u]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] nn [name_m]Lance[/name_m]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m]
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m]
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Damien[/name_m]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
I think you guys have great taste and all your names would sound nice with your surname.
My favorites are [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_m]Heath[/name_m]. I think [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] would be perfect in the middle spot! I also love this name, but agree… it would be tricky as a first name for a boy.
It sounds like you like more of the classic names… but still names that aren’t TOO popular.
Here are some combos I like using your chosen names…
I didn’t really think of the double p sound with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] but agree this may be a bit of a mouthful!
Also agree about [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Power[/name_m], it does depend how you say it but my Mum said it reminds her of Puppy [name_m]Power[/name_m] so may be a no go.
Really like [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] so this is definitely a strong contender.

Thanks CMWP for the lovely post. [name_m]Will[/name_m] definitely bear this in mind, it’s a cool surname but also very tricky with certain names which is making it even more difficult . [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Heath[/name_m] would suit a newborn? I think it’s an amazing name for an adult but just not sure how well it works for a cute little baby? X
Honestly any name works on a baby, the baby will grow into whichever name you decide on. [name_m]Heath[/name_m] has a soft sound to it and I think it will work on any age. If you were naming your kiddo [name_m]Horace[/name_m], I might say that it doesn’t sound like the sweetest baby name out there…
This is my first time back on this website in over a year wow!
Our little boy is one now and I just wanted to let everyone know we went for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Heath[/name_m] in the end so thanks for all your help.
