Our son is born and we need to decide on his name. He’s a blue-eyed little munchkin, and will likely have light brown or dark blond hair. Please help me decide!
We love [name]Sebastian[/name], but are a bit concerned about popularity. I don’t want him to be one of five Sebastians in his classroom.
I love [name]Curran[/name]. I met one person years ago with that name and thought it was nice and unusual.
My husband loves [name]Kai[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name]. But [name]Kai[/name] is also rising in popularity, at least among friends’ friends in certain parts of the US. I feel as if [name]Quinn[/name] is a more feminine name than masculine nowadays, especially with the cheerleader character on Glee.
So, can you help us decide? We think we might lean toward [name]Sebastian[/name] or [name]Curran[/name] for a first name, and then use one of the other names as a middle (unless you have other good ideas).
His sister’s name is [name]Maren[/name] [name]Delphine[/name].
I like [name]Curran[/name] and it goes really well with [name]Maren[/name] and his fair appearance. Second choice is [name]Sebastian[/name]. It’s growing in popularity but I don’t know any. I like [name]Quinn[/name] the third but your reservations suggest you shouldn’t choose it.
[name]Maren[/name] and [name]Curran[/name] sound a little too similar for siblings to me. Obviously, I love [name]Sebastian[/name], but mine is only 2 so I haven’t gotten a sense of how popular it is in a class yet. Hmm, I’m not sure which sounds best with [name]Maren[/name]! I think I’d lean toward [name]Grant[/name], actually. Congrats on your new baby boy!
[name]Curran[/name] is cool, but it sounds like Currant. I think [name]Sebastian[/name] is probably less popular than you think. Check the babynamewizard to see how popular it is in your area.
I like [name]Grant[/name] myself. It is such a handsome name and it is uncommon, but also easy to spell and pronounce. It also seems to be the least trendy sounding of your list, which is a bonus imo. [name]Curran[/name] is interesting. [name]Kai[/name] is too trendy sounding and too short for my liking. [name]Quinn[/name] is a great name, but I prefer [name]Grant[/name]. [name]Sebastian[/name] is nice, but too popular.
[name]Grant[/name] really stands out to me with your description of him! All are great names, though, so he will be beautifully named regardless of what you choose!
My [name]Sebastian[/name] has blue eyes and continues to be blond as a ten year old. I honestly do not run into many with his name, every now and then I do but growing up as a [name]Jennifer[/name] I never wanted to give any of my kiddos a name like mine so do not let popularity scare you. [name]Curran[/name] is probably my least favorite of the names you mentioned. [name]Kai[/name] is neat, but not my favorite. [name]Quinn[/name] is great (I think “The mighty [name]Quinn[/name]” would be an awesome tshirt, lol) but it doesn’t age as well as I personally like. [name]Grant[/name] is a winner, love it and it fits pretty much any personality type I can imagine. Congrats on your sweet boy.
With [name]Maren[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] (gorgeous, btw!), [name]Sebastian[/name] is my favorite. I think [name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Grant[/name] would be handsome. [name]Grant[/name] as a FN would be my second pick, followed by [name]Kai[/name].
Really love [name]Curran[/name]! What a cool name! I would however based on how similar it looks to your daughters name, name him [name]Sebastian[/name]. You could also opt for [name]Bastian[/name] like whatever celebrity just did, or perhaps just call him that? I saw your names and a name that stuck out was [name]Quinn[/name]. Too popular and doesn’t fit. A name you don’t have and I think would fit is [name]Zander[/name] or [name]Xander[/name]. If I were to perfectly subset though I would make his name Sebastion [name]Xavier[/name] to go with [name]Maren[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]. So cool!! Best of luck.
I only know three Sebastians (all [name]German[/name]) and they are all around 30.
But this might help… While Sebastian is growing in popularity, in 2011 the name [name]Sebastian[/name] (for boys - there are also a handful of girls) averaged out to about 130 per US state. For example: there are over 1100 elementary schools in [name]Virginia[/name] so the likeliness that your son would be one of 5 in his class would be very slim. Being one of two would be pretty unlikely as well considering that each school will have multiple classrooms per year. You can download lists of how many people were given a specific name each year then you can kind of do the math - sometimes #65 on the popularity list is used half as often #64 it was just more popular than anything else.
I think [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Kai[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name] are the best of your options! I love [name]Sebastian[/name] but it is very popular at the moment and I know several all under the age of 5 years old. However, I doubt you’d come across 5 in the same class considering the vast amount of names in use today.
[name]Kai[/name] is nice but has a completely different style to your daughters name so I’m leaning much more towards [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name].
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] could be a good compromise?!
