Urgent twin girl names - please help!

My twin girls are due in a week and we still don’t have names sorted. Loving [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. Are [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] too similar to use together? Perhaps [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is better? We don’t mind [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] either, though I’m not sure if it’s a “real” name. Any other names strike you when you see this list?
Opinions and suggestions most gratefully received

Congrats to you! I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] are fine, They both end in “a” but they’re otherwise both quite distinct in sound.

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] & [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] is absolutely a real name! It’s been used in the UK for ages but is only just gaining popularity now (having said that I do know one in her 30s). I read a blog by a woman with a little girl named [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and she featured this page about people called [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]/about the name which is worth reading: http://www.romilly.plus.com/romillys.htm
Her other children are [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] (maybe an alternative to [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]?) and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] which are sort of inkeeping with your taste.

As a twin, I’m here to say don’t freak out! You have beautiful names on your list!

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] together. [name_m]French[/name_m] familiar vibe!

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] aren’t too similar, and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] feels a little off to me with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is gorgeous with vintage [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] as well!

[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] is totally a real name, as above poster mentioned. I like it with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] off your list - I’d use the streamlined spelling here so you don’t have one uber-femme name ([name_f]Juliette[/name_f]).

Others you might like would be [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_u]Abilene[/name_u] (with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]?), [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] (with [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]?), [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f] (with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]?), [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]?), [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] (with [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]?), [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]?), [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] (with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]?), [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (with [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]?), [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] (with [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], or [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]?), [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] (with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]?), [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] (with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]?), [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] (with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]?), [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]?), [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (with [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]?), [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] (with [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]?), [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]?), or [name_u]Vivien[/name_u]/[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] (with [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]?)…

[name_m]Lemon[/name_m]

are my favorites and sound good together – love how they share the r sound.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] popped into say that [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] & [name_f]Delia[/name_f] would be the sweetest twin girl set ever.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] don’t sound way too close, but they do bump into each other a little when you say them quickly.

Other suggestions:
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (both a bit tragic heroines)
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] & [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] & [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but it does sound adorable with [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. Not too matchy at all. Other combos from your list I like

[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f].

[name_f]Corisande[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Corynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Daria[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] is fine as well.

I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] are close, but not undo-able. Not going to lie, when I first saw the combo together I thought they were “[name_f]Delia[/name_f] and Codelia,” so that may comeup when the names are written down. Sound-wise, I think the work fine!

I would avoid [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] together. [name_m]Both[/name_m] lovely names but together they are too much like [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].

I really like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. A lot.

I also really liked the suggestions: [name_f]Adela[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f]. My own suggestion would be the name Ceceilia- I think it fits your girly-french orgin nameset.

My favorite combos:
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].

Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

To me [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a little to close to [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] are a beautiful sibsit. Not to similar at all.

Personally my favorite combo from you list are [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. Two Shakespearean beauties in one family!

Thanks to all of you who have replied so far. I feel so much better that the names are all useable and with some good combinations suggested.

I was a bit worried about popularity mismatches etc but no one has raised this so I will ignore it too

I also feel like there must be some consistency in my name taste based on the additional suggestions being made as almost all of these were on our lists and some I adore but can’t use due to family/friends (including [name_f]Estella[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]). Also love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] but don’t love nickname [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] is a bit out there for me to use in real life).

My concern on [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] relates mostly to nicknames. I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] would be fine, but if [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] went by [name_f]Delia[/name_f]…

Good point about [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] too, thanks! Hadn’t thought of that.

Any more suggestions and input very welcome!

Like pp, I love using [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (I prefer this spelling, but [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] is pretty also) as the Shakespearean heroine link is lovely.

I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] work really well as a twin pairing, they toe the line between similar and different really well - they have the same ending when spoken, but it looks different written down, they share a sound ‘deli’ but in different locations so they are linked but not too match, and they have the same feminine, vintage image. The only thing i would be wary of is nicknaming [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Delia[/name_f]’, as ‘[name_f]Delia[/name_f]’ and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is probably a bit much. But [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is a lovely nickname for [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] anyway!

In terms of which names I prefer purely on their look and sound I would go for
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]

once again they share the ‘de’ sound, but in different places. They are both gorgeous names which suit each other well stylistically.

Best of luck!

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] isn’t really my cup of tea but you’re the mummy!

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] get my vote. They are both individual but compliment each other on paper and spoken out loud.

Feel free to check out my signature for any inspiration

Ooh, agreed! In my mind, I think I was saying [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. Ha.

Follow up question
Middle names… I am hoping to use family names: playing with [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Lynne[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Any suggested pairings? I find most work with [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] (except obviously [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]), but the other names don’t seem to work in the middle?

Not sure about using [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] together - a little theme-y, perhaps. But, [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is way cool.

My favorite first names off your list were [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. My favorite middle names are [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] long is your last name, because these are very long names - ha. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is workable, as is [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. But, I think they’d be best with a shorter last name. My second favorite first name pairing was [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet/name_f, and I like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet/name_f [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], I think.

You could also try variants or sound-alike names: [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] for [name_f]Lynne[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Anya[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Neve[/name_f] for [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].

I know, I like long first names. 2 syllable last name… I prefer to use the actual names rather than sound-alike names. The [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] thing hadn’t struck me before, thanks for pointing out lemon. I will have to think about whether that is a deal breaker…
