I have a question after looking at your blog. When you say a name went up or down, let’s say [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] -4, are you comparing that with the 2015 condensed spelling list? Or, is it in comparison to the ssa published list? I think for some names comparing the rank of your list with the publish ssa list might be misleading or less helpful. If it is condensed vs condensed it gives a clearer picture. Alternatively, you could put number of babies named that name in 2015 in a column and it would remove any confusion.
It is compared to the newly published 2015 data from the SSA. So while was the #1 name given to boys in 2015, when you add up all the various spellings of names, [name_u]Noah[/name_u] was only the 3rd most used name in 2015 and therefore went two places down (here’s the list I used Popular Names in the United States 2015 - Behind the Name.
I’ll try to make that more clear on the blog!
It’s crazy how many variations of [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Kayden[/name_u], etc. there are; I created a whole Top 100 for boys but as NB is messed up for me I can’t edit posts or create new ones, however, I did add the link in my signature if you’re interested in the rest!
You can also view the pdf document directly (even download it) here: http://docdro.id/Zrm7wHq
The biggest “surprise” was [name_m]Kason[/name_m] which jumped almost 300 ranks up as none of the spellings is very popular but there are so so many!
