As far as unconventional names go is [name_f]Feather[/name_f] usable? I once met an older lady with this name and I thought it sounded so feminine and pretty. What would you think if you met a little [name_f]Feather[/name_f]?
I can see it being misheard as [name_f]Heather[/name_f]. I think it’s interesting and different. Perhaps if there was a significant reason behind the name?
Personally, i would be like oh thats different . I think its not really a good name . It would be fine as a middle name (SORRY
[name_f]Feather[/name_f] is probably better off in the middle slot, but it’s a fun and unique name! I think of it like straight out of a dystopian novel, if that makes sense.
I know a [name_f]Feather[/name_f] too! I like the name. I think as far as word names go, this one is more on the usable side. It’s familiar, but not something that would come up often in casual conversation and cause confusion (like [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] or Love)
If there’s a meaningful reason for it I could see it working in the middle otherwise I’d just stick with [name_f]Heather[/name_f] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] (familiar names with maybe the same sound or visual)
A childhood friend of mine was adamant she was going to name her future daughter [name_f]Feather[/name_f]! I thought it was strange then but I can actually see it working fine now – not so far removed from whimsical nature names like [name_f]Clover[/name_f] and [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] only criticism is that it’s a bit light and insubstantial, but that’s more the namesake than the sound, which is actually quite solid and very namelike!
Ooh, it’s cute! I could see it working, maybe with [name_f]Fae[/name_f] as a nickname?
I would be excited to meet a [name_f]Feather[/name_f]! It sounds similar to other names like [name_f]Heather[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f], Ever/Evelyn, [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], so it doesn’t feel/sound completely outlandish. I like the connection to flying and birds - kind of sweet.
I know a [name_f]Feather[/name_f]! Definitely usable, big hippy vibes
Sure, it is nice and feels fresh and better than [name_f]Heather[/name_f] to my ears
Anyways nowadays people use names like [name_f]Beretta[/name_f] or [name_f]Capri[/name_f] or Brightleigh or Lightshadow so I mean [name_f]Feather[/name_f] does not even sound that much particular compared
I think [name_f]Feather[/name_f] is usable. At first I do think of it as sort of hyper feminine in a traditional western way, as in feathers are beautiful but, in isolation, delicate drifting objects. I find the sounds in the name are quite light and airy, which I think compounds this impression.
However, feathers have a huge amount of symbolic meaning and spiritual significance in many cultures (e.g.the power of flight, messages from ancestors and guides, protection, knowledge, growth) and taking these into account I am a lot more on board with [name_f]Feather[/name_f] as a name.
i like it! ive never even seen the idea of it, but at this age of non conventional names, i think it can fly. while likely the only one around, it’s a nice word, so there’s not much negative other than it being a new idea.
i hadnt thought of it being mistaken as heather until i saw the comments, but by the time this kiddo is an adult, heather will be just as unusual an idea.
For some reason I have a bit of a hard time seeing it as a first name, not necessarily because it’s wordy but something about the sound just doesn’t feel like enough to be a name. I think it would work better as a middle.
Totally usable! Quirky yeah but definitely usable
I think it would make a cute middle. Something like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Feather[/name_f] would be lovely
It’s perhaps not the most wearable, but definitely usable. I think it’s got a lovely light and delicate vibe, I’d possibly assume someone called [name_f]Feather[/name_f] had a new age sort of background? Personally I’d love it more as a middle.
I think it’s usable! I kind of dig it. I do think it will be misheard as [name_f]Heather[/name_f] a lot though.
maybe on a cat or dog, but not a human
I’d probably use it as a nickname for another name bird related name like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f], or the more obvious bird names like [name_u]Lark[/name_u], [name_u]Finch[/name_u] ect… I personally think of it as a cute nickname.
