We’ve managed to narrow down the name list for both our b/g twins. Our boy will be [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] “AJ” & our girl with either be [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] “[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]”, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
We want our twins to each have honour names for middles. “[name_u]Jude[/name_u]” is after my older sister [name_f]Judith[/name_f] and we want our daughter to have a middle that honours my husband’s brother. We thought it would be cool to honour the opposite gender, especially since I have only 1 sister and he has only 1 brother.
His brother’s name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. We’ve already vetoed [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] because we dislike the blunt feminizations f the name. We’re thinking about [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] and [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], but we found neither go well with any of our name finalists. What do you guys think?
Well not sure if I can help any, but [name_f]Alexine[/name_f] is another variant of [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], and lesser used, while still keeping the [name_u]Alex[/name_u] sound. There’s also [name_u]Andrea[/name_u] from the “[name_m]Ander[/name_m].” [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_u]Alex[/name_u]/[name_u]Alix[/name_u]/[name_f]Alyx[/name_f] is okay for a middle name as well. There’s also [name_f]Alexia[/name_f].
That said [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] would be pretty combos.
Congrats on you twins! I think it’s a beautiful idea to honour the opposite gender.
I don’t usually like the name [name_u]August[/name_u] however [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is perfect :).
All three girls names would work well with [name_u]August[/name_u] but my favourite is [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] (for a nn I’ve heard of a [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] be could [name_f]Mae[/name_f]). [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is a close second purely because I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]!
Female variations of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (not including [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], [name_u]Alexis[/name_u], [name_f]Alexa[/name_f]):
[name_f]Alexia[/name_f]
[name_u]Lexi[/name_u]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Alejandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
I like [name_f]Zandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Xandra[/name_f] as a middle name especially with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] - [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Zandra[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_f]Zandra[/name_f]. You could use [name_f]Sandra[/name_f], [name_f]Sondra[/name_f], or [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] instead. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] works, maybe [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Lex[/name_u] too.
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is my favorite of your girls list!
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_u]Lexie[/name_u]
[name_u]Allix[/name_u]
[name_u]Alexi[/name_u]
[name_m]Alexei[/name_m]
I like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] best out of your first name options, and I think it works well with [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] since that way you don’t have double “a” endings.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] sound adorable together and I really like the swapped gender honor names
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] with [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] unfortunately doesn’t seem to go with any [name_u]Alex[/name_u] variations, the lis and lex sounds clash (to my ears anyway).
Does your brother in law have a middle name that can be used instead? Or alternatively using a name that has a similar meaning to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] (defender of man), for example [name_f]Minette[/name_f] means faithful defender and goes quite well with [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. Or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as it sounds similar to [name_u]Alex[/name_u]?
