V!ridiana and H!ldegarde and...?

I am kinda afraid to post this thread, but my curiosity is getting the best of me!!!

For over a decade, I have kept my favorite name secret because I don’t want anyone in real life making fun of it, trying to dissuade me from using it or (not likely) stealing it.

I’ve also MOSTLY not talked about it on here because I don’t want it to blow up as the next darling of the nameberry world haha.

But, now that I am finally actually married for real and I know we are hoping to grow our family someday soon, I can’t help but dream about names. We will probably only try for 1 or 2 children, because I am in my mid-30s and we can’t really afford to have the family of 4 or more that I’ve always dreamt of, BUT… that doesn’t stop me from wanting to dream about the possibility of having 3 or 4.

Which brings me here. I posted yesterday asking for brother name ideas for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]. Those are the 2 boy names we agreed on almost immediately. It was really meant to be that [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] had become my top name (other than [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]/[name_u]Laurie[/name_u] which he has vetoed), because that was the name of someone very important in his life who passed away too soon. That was a no-brainer for us.

My favorite girl name is V!ridiana. I told him it was pretty much a deal breaker to let me use it haha. Thankfully, he likes it and agreed. But then he said he should get to use his favorite name if we have a second girl. His pick… H!ldegarde. (Yes, I’m the one who keeps posting about H!ldegarde! haha) He wants to call her [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], and I am warming up to the idea of having a little [name_f]Hildi[/name_f].

I’m not surprised if you don’t like one or both of these names, or if you think they don’t really go together. Believe me, as a name nerd for the past 27 years, I expect that reaction. What I am asking for is if you saw a real life sibset of cute little girls name V!ri and [name_f]Hildi[/name_f], what would you want a third or fourth sister to be named? Looking for rare eccentric aristocrat names, witchy, ethereal, nature-inspired names, unique royal and saintly names, sweet virtue names. (My pick would be [name_f]Cressida[/name_f], but he doesn’t like it. He likes names like [name_f]Brigitta[/name_f] and Ammalia. We both kinda like [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], but I’m afraid it’s not unique enough.)

This is a BIG deal for me to be putting these names out here, so please be kind!

TL;DR: [name_m]How[/name_m] would you complete a 3- or 4-sister sibset of V!ridiana and H!ldegarde?

V!ridiana and [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] are both super unique (although I do know one [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f])! While they are not my cup of tea, I totally think you should use the names you love! It’s great that you have been able to agree so easily.

I think you’re right that [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] doesn’t feel as unique next to those two. These came to mind given those:
[name_f]Adeliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonina[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Bathsheba[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarimond[/name_f]
[name_f]Demelza[/name_f]
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]

[name_f]Nadezhda[/name_f]
[name_f]Perpetua[/name_f]
[name_f]Petronella[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]
[name_f]Theophania[/name_f]
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f]
[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]

Not sure if any of those fit what you’re looking for, but I hope it helps a little.

I don’t really have any suggestions, but I’m just popping in to say congratulations on being brave and sharing your favorite names, and I for one especially like H!ldegarde and [name_f]Hilda[/name_f]/[name_f]Hildy[/name_f]. It’s definitely uncommon, but it’s got a lot of strength and character and the nicknames are super cute.

Thank you so much for all these beautiful names and encouragement, everyone! I’m glad I was brave enough to ask.

You have mentioned some of my old favorites [name_f]Amarantha[/name_f] (used to be my #2 name!) [name_f]Leocadia[/name_f]

I love your bold choices! I think H!ldegarde and V!ridiana make a wonderful and unexpected sibset! I love V!ridiana and I actually know a V!ridiana! She goes by Vidi.

Some names that I think go with those are:

Elodina
[name_f]Amarantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Adamina[/name_f]
[name_f]Araceli[/name_f]
[name_f]Diantha[/name_f]

[name_f]Emeraude[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anatolia[/name_f]

I totally understand your hesitation in sharing your favorite names! [name_f]Araminta[/name_f] has been my favorite name for years and I’ve told very few people [name_m]IRL[/name_m] due to the same reasons you mentioned. Thanks for sharing with us!

Thank you so much, @girlywhirly, for saying you like them as a sibset–that makes my heart happy! haha

I can’t believe you know a V!ridiana. Never thought of Vidi before, that’s interesting.

Never heard Theodalia before–do you know meaning? Wondering if it is a version of Theodoula?

(BTW, I love [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]!)

Oh! And I wanted to say that I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] that you recommended [name_f]Hyacinthia[/name_f], because we eloped on [name_f]Monday[/name_f] evening due to our big wedding plans being cancelled because of the pandemic, and I carried a single white hyacinth from his yard, and I just was thinking if there was some version of it that I could use like as a middle name (it’s also my mom’s favorite flower)!

@mermuse Congratulations on your wedding! Awe, [name_f]Hyacinthia[/name_f] would be perfect! I don’t know the meaning of Theodalia unfortunately. I actually saw the name on here YEARS ago and it just stuck with me. I did try to find some history to the name a couple years ago but couldn’t find much.

Thank you, guys! It makes me really happy to hear people say it sounds like a good sibset, since we are really set on these names

Athaliah is actually an old favorite, I think it’s a beautiful name, but I don’t know if I can get over the fact of her evilness in the bible haha

I am actually really liking Vesperine/Vespertine, but I don’t know if I want two V names

What do you guys think of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangelina[/name_f]?

Now I’m crushing on [name_f]Ariella[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that’s rare enough to go with the other two?

I have a friend named V!ridiana who goes by V!ri (she’s Latina, so V!ri is pronounced like Vidi, but none of our teachers ever got it right the first time). Her sister is Alessandria.

I like the idea of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. It’s classy and feminine like V!ridiana but has a little of that hardiness that [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] has.

I honest to goodness love [name_f]Viridiana[/name_f] and [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f].

I personally wouldn’t worry about uniqueness so much as something you both like and can agree to. I think [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] is a really great option here.

Some ideas:
Lysandra (Lyssi?)

Thank you!

I agree with that analysis of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], that’s kinda what I was thinking.

I appreciate all the name suggestions, especially with ‘i’ endings, @brittanyanitarose
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Phyllida[/name_f] but I feel like the meaning is too close to V!ridiana
I actually just suggested [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] to him!

Thanks for the advice. Maybe you are right and I should just focus on what we both like and agree with. [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] might fit well with the sibset. We are also thinking [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], and [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] or Gwenllian
