Vada - How do you feel about it? Is it usable or too out there? Middle name help

So, I’ve been searching for a honor name for someone in my family. Right now, [name_m]Ive[/name_m] come up with [name_f]Vada[/name_f], because it brings up memories of this person, and one of their favorite movies, my girl. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about the name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you find it usable or no? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it will stick out with my other names if I used it? Does it fit with them?

My second half of this is middle name help. I have two middle names right now that I am considering;
[name_f]Vada[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Vada[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u].

[name_u]Madison[/name_u] means gift from god, and I just find that nice. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is just a name I’ve liked forever. I’m open to other options, as well.

Unfortunately [name_f]Vada[/name_f] has always made me think of Darth Vader. I thought it was very pretty and spunky until I made that connection and now I can’t unhear it. Sorry!

For middle names, I can’t find where [name_u]Madison[/name_u] means “gift from God”. It’s from a surname meaning “son of [name_f]Maud[/name_f]”, and [name_f]Maud[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] meaning “strength in battle”. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] both mean “gift of God”, and [name_f]Vada[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] would be cute. I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] but it’s too much with [name_f]Vada[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Vada[/name_f] but would spell it [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] many syllables is your last name? I’ve heard it’s best to do a combination of 1,2, and 3 syllables.

[name_u]Madison[/name_u] doesn’t mean “gift from God.” It means “son of [name_f]Maude[/name_f].” [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]/[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], and [name_f]Godiva[/name_f] come closest to it: “gift of God.” I prefer [name_f]Veda[/name_f] spelled the original way.

I have an old lady at church named [name_f]Vada[/name_f] and she is darling. But I would also choose to spell it [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. And I think [name_u]Madison[/name_u] flows better as a middle.

I love My Girl, as well, and I think it’s an awesome name! As for a middle, it depends on the last name and how many syllables :slight_smile:
But I [name_f]DO[/name_f] like [name_u]Madison[/name_u] for a middle! ”
I realize, after collecting names, that many names I like come from my favorite movies I watched as a kid, because I’ve liked the name [name_u]Madison[/name_u] since I watched “Splash”! :smiley:

I like [name_f]Vada[/name_f], I think it’s simple-sounding enough to feel familiar despite being very uncommon. I prefer [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] though. For middle names I’m not a fan of [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and how it repeats [name_f]Vada[/name_f]'s “ad” sound in the first syllable, so I’d go for [name_f]Vada[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].

I have a great grandmother with the middle name [name_f]Vada[/name_f]- it’s lovely! I think I’d pair it with a softer sounding middle.

This name is very pretty, but now that I’ve connected it to Darth Vader, I can’t unmake that connection.
As many others have already said, I’d probably also spell it [name_f]Veda[/name_f].
