I quite like the names [name]Valen[/name] and Valens… although I am not sure if I prefer them for a boy or a girl!
Whats your opinion…[name]Do[/name] you like them? Which one is better?? And are they better for boy or girl?
Cheers?

I honestly love [name]Valen[/name]. I had a friend several years ago who had a son named [name]Valen[/name], I remember thinking it was one cool name! I also like [name]Vale[/name]/[name]Vail[/name] for a boy, though, too. I can’t really see [name]Valen[/name] on a girl because of her son, but strangely enough, I sort of like Valens for a girl. Or you could do something like [name]Valentina[/name], which marks it firmly in the feminine camp, and use the nn [name]Valen[/name]/Valens?
The name makes me think of two people: [name]Roman[/name] Emperor Valens and singer [name]Richie[/name] Valens who sang the 50’s song “La Bamba” and died in a plane crash with [name]Buddy[/name] [name]Holly[/name]. I can only see the name on a boy. It does remind me of drapery word “valance” so I don’t have a great liking for the name.
Have to agree with the other posters. [name]Valen[/name]/Valens is all boy for me. I love the suggestion of fn [name]Valentina[/name] with nn of [name]Valen[/name] though!
I prefer [name]Valen[/name] to Valens. I like it and would definitely see it as a boys name. [name]Vale[/name] is also great.
[name]Just[/name] in case there is any confusion… I pronounce it [name]VAL[/name]-IN not [name]VAIL[/name]-IN … Not sure if that makes a difference…
I think If i used [name]Valen[/name] I would use his/her full name or [name]Len[/name] as a nn…
[name]Valen[/name] strikes me as all boy, just like pp’s said. I do like it - and had never heard it before now - but to me it rings as masculine. The nn [name]Len[/name] is also especially masculine to me. And I’m even one of those rare Nameberries who tends to like boy-ish names on girls! Good luck!
