My first thought for [name_m]Valle[/name_m] would be VAYL or [name_f]VALLEY[/name_f]. VAHL would be [name_u]Val[/name_u]. VAYL could also be [name_u]Vale[/name_u] or Veil like a wedding veil, but I wouldn’t use that spelling for a name. Vaye would be VAY. I prefer Vaye of all the them.

Is there a particular pronunciation you’re aiming for?

I’m a Spanish speaker and know several Latin Americans with the last name [name_m]Valle[/name_m]. If you wanted to name a child [name_f]Valley[/name_f], Vay or [name_m]Vail[/name_m]/[name_u]Vale[/name_u] I would spell it that way. [name_m]Valle[/name_m]/Vaye would be confusing I think.

I like the sound VAH-YEH in spanish, and it sounds like that either [name_m]VALLE[/name_m] or VAYE.

But a lot of my friends are english speakers so VAYE (VAY sound) sounds better to me than [name_m]VALLE[/name_m] (VAHL or VAYL sound)

Thanks!

I like [name_m]Valle[/name_m]. Then Spanish friends can say va-ye and English friends [name_f]Valley[/name_f] and it will have the same meaning

Thank you! I like [name_f]VALLEY[/name_f] sound for [name_m]VALLE[/name_m], but many english speakers would say VAHL or VAYL.

Assuming that these names have no meaning, just considering the phonetic, Would you prefer VAHL or VAYL sound over VAYE (VAY) sound?

I like [name_m]Valle[/name_m] more but both are beautiful!

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_m]Valle[/name_m]?

At first glance I would think [name_m]Valle[/name_m] was [name_u]Val[/name_u] and Vaye was like [name_f]Fay[/name_f] (or spanish [name_f]Fe[/name_f]) but with a V. However, as a middle name, I think you have a bit more leeway. I think staying true to the accurate spelling is more important than adjusting it for pronunciation’s sake. I think I would prefer my middle name to be [name_m]Valle[/name_m] over Vaye.

I prefer the look of [name_m]Valle[/name_m] and if it’s in the middle would definitely go for this. If you would mind constantly having to correct the pronunciation of your child’s name, then I think Vaye is your best option.

Considering ONLY the phonetic, Which sound would you prefer [name_m]VALLE[/name_m] (VAHL or VAYL) or VAYE (VAY) sound?

Thank you!

Thank you  We appreciate all your comments

Very interesting comment. Thanks

I second simply spelling the name correctly and using the correct Spanish pronunciation. Middle names are rarely ever used, so it won’t be a big deal.

At least in the US, the occasions where it is used (like graduations, weddings etc.) always ask people for the phonetic pronunciation of the first, middle and last names anyway no matter how simple the names seem just because there are so many languages and cultures here.

Unless they misread it as [name_u]Vale[/name_u], I don’t see how [name_m]Valle[/name_m] could be said “vayl”. I would say it like [name_f]Valley[/name_f], since it reminds me of [name_u]Halle[/name_u]. I prefer [name_f]Valley[/name_f] to Vay.

Thank you!
