Valley

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!!

I am really loving the name [name_f]Valley[/name_f] for our girl. We had a full term stillborn prior to this and really fell in love with the lyrics saying that God is the same in the valleys and the mountains.

I also like alternate spellings, not sure which!

[name_f]Valley[/name_f]
[name_f]Vallie[/name_f]
Valeigh

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband is sure everyone will immediately think of a “valley girl”… thoughts?

yes, I did think of valley girl. I would stick with [name_f]Valley[/name_f]. The Valeigh spelling is just “too much” if you know what I mean, and since it’s already a pretty “out there” name I would stick with the intuitive spelling. Also, it’s a word everyone already knows how to spell so there would be constant corrections needed if you used a different spelling.

I love [name_f]Valley[/name_f]! I think it’s so sweet and spunky. [name_f]Valley[/name_f] would be my favorite spelling. I don’t think of valley girls at all, personally - maybe because I’m on the younger side and it isn’t such a common term anymore?

I’m young also and I did think of valley girl (possibly because my dad is from L.A.) but I thought of it in a cute spunky way, not an annoying sassy way.

Yeah honestly I never heard of that phrase until
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband told me!! And my hesitation is because apparently it’s like stuck up, ditzy girls.

I didn’t think of valley girls until you mentioned it, but I don’t think that’s a reason not to use the name. I think [name_f]Valley[/name_f] is sweet (would 100% stick with that spelling).

My first thought, reading the title, was also “valley girl” but I honestly had to Google what that meant. I knew the term, but I couldn’t remember the meaning.

However, it sounds like this name is very meaningful for your rainbow baby

I prefer [name_f]Valley[/name_f] or [name_f]Vallie[/name_f]. I really can’t decide between the two.

If you want to go in this direction, with the meaning of “valley,” perhaps one of these names could work?

Dael / [name_f]Daelyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Dale[/name_u] / [name_f]Dalenna[/name_f] / [name_f]Dalena[/name_f]
[name_u]Denver[/name_u] - “green valley”
[name_u]Kendal[/name_u] / [name_f]Kendyl[/name_f] - “valley of the river [name_m]Kent[/name_m]”

I thought valley girl right away. To me, [name_f]Valley[/name_f] is too wordy, since I’m not used to hearing it as a name.

My first thought was “valley girl,” but I don’t think the association should deter you from the name, especially since it has significance to you and your family.

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Valley[/name_f]. I would stick with the [name_f]Valley[/name_f] spelling.

My first thought was “Oh, thats a lovely word name I havn’t seen before”!
I think it is quite similar to [name_u]Navy[/name_u] in style. And [name_u]Navy[/name_u] is popular right now, so [name_f]Valley[/name_f] seems very usable as a name to me.

I am familiar with the [name_f]Valley[/name_f] girl phrase but my mind didn’t jump there.

I think it’s cute and has a lot of meaning to you. I’d stick with valley- it’s the most straightforward spelling

I love the name [name_f]Valley[/name_f]! I didn’t really think of valley girl but tbh that stereotype is so dated and very misogynist so I wouldn’t worry about it! I think original spelling would be the best option given how everybody will be spelling it like that and the “Valeigh” is very unnecessary and too me another unattractive [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] name!

Valley is a bit unusual but I think it works. Vee and [name_u]Allie[/name_u] are cute nns. [name_f]Valley[/name_f] is the best spelling; Valeigh looks trendy to me.

I think Valley is a beautiful nature name! It’s one of those that feels familiar enough to be easily pronounced and recognized, yet not such an every day word that it will be awkward.
Valley nn Vale would be stunning. I had never heard of the term valley girl, so that is a nonissue for me.
I love the meaning of it for you. I would stick to the Valley spelling personally, Vallie being a distant second choice. Valeigh seems like it could bring in pronunciation issues so I’d steer clear of that one.

I adore [name_f]Valley[/name_f] and I especially love it as nickname for [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and “valley girl” never crosses my mind when I read it.

I think [name_f]Valley[/name_f] is cute. I’ve heard of [name_f]Valley[/name_f] Girls but didn’t think of it. You could have [name_f]Valley[/name_f] be a nn or a middle name if you’re worried about it.

Jess mentioned [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and I’ve seen another berry mention [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] nn [name_f]Valley[/name_f] for example. Other ideas are [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] and [name_f]Valencia[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Valley[/name_f]! I definitely like the [name_f]Valley[/name_f] spelling most. The nn [name_u]Vale[/name_u] is perfect, too.

I first thought nature name and I did think of Vallley girl, but I don’t think that should discourage you from using it. I suspect that it will become more used as parents search for new nature names. [name_f]Valley[/name_f] [name_u]Cove[/name_u] would be adorable.

Valley feels sweet and meaningful

It has a lovely sound and meaning (my condolences on your loss). I think it’s definitely useable, though I myself like the idea of using it as a nickname for a [name_u]Val[/name_u]- name like [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] or [name_f]Valerie[/name_f].
