I’m looking for variations of the name Laura. We really wanted to honor my mom by using some form of her name as our daughter’s middle name but haven’t found anything we love yet. Here’s what we have so far -
I like the names you’ve already collevted yourself. Here are some more ideas:
[name_f]Annalaura[/name_f]
Lau
[name_f]Laureen[/name_f]
[name_u]Lauren[/name_u]
[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_u]Laurie[/name_u]
[name_f]Laurissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lori[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorilyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Lurlene[/name_f] / [name_f]Lurline[/name_f]
[name_f]Aura[/name_f]
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lowri[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurena[/name_f] / [name_f]Lorena[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (as in, [name_f]Laura[/name_f] meaning laurels, laurels being given as praise for being victorious/successful - and shares the ‘ora’ sound)
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f] (see above)
[name_u]Honor[/name_u] / [name_f]Honora[/name_f] (see above)
Thinking of variations that I know people named, I know a [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] (Lory for short), a [name_f]Lorina[/name_f], and a Laura-Jane
More ideas: [name_f]Laureline[/name_f] (“laur-eh-leen”), [name_f]Laurella[/name_f], [name_f]Laurette[/name_f], [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f], Anna-Laura or [name_f]Annalaura[/name_f], Laura-May, Laura-Rose.
[name_u]Florence[/name_u] has the laur- sound too, and to some extent [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elora[/name_f]. Maybe also [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_u]Mallory[/name_u] and [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]?
I honestly would just use [name_f]Laura[/name_f] as it is and I did, one of my daughters has [name_f]Laura[/name_f] as a middle name as it’s a family name unless it’s a big clash with the first or last names.
Otherwise, I like [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f] or [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] as twists on [name_f]Laura[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] cousin is [name_f]Lauretta[/name_f]. I have always loved it. I prefer this spelling over [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]. No one has ever shortened her name!
I’ve always loved Loraina (or spelled Lorena?) but this -aina pronunciation. It’s not a variation, but [name_f]Flora[/name_f] or [name_u]Florence[/name_u] would be an interesting way to use the -lor sound if you can’t find anything closer that you love.
