variations on Laura

I would love to name our baby after my husband’s grandmother [name_f]Laura[/name_f], but our last name rhymes with [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. I would love some suggestions for variants of [name_f]Laura[/name_f] that don’t rhyme.

Thanks!
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]

I absolutely love [name_f]Lara[/name_f]. What about…
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]

[name_f]Laura[/name_f] means ‘[name_u]Bay[/name_u] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]’ so what about [name_u]Bay[/name_u]?

[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] is my favorite!

[name_f]Loretta[/name_f] is my absolute favorite version of [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and is the farthest from rhyming with [name_f]Laura[/name_f], and I assume your last name.

Maybe consider a middle if nothing seems right. Best of luck!

My mom’s name is [name_f]Laurette[/name_f].

What about:

I am not sure what your surname is, so some of these names may rhyme with it more than others and I apologize for any repeats:

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_f]Lori[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorena[/name_f]
Loriana
[name_f]Laraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Larissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Larisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurentia[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurenzia[/name_f]
[name_f]Laureen[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] has the same meaning as [name_f]Laura[/name_f]

I like the idea of [name_f]Lara[/name_f].
What about [name_f]Lorna[/name_f]? it has a similar sound to [name_f]Laura[/name_f].
other suggestions (sorry for repeats)
[name_f]Lorena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorenza[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
Loredana

What about [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]? I’ve always liked the idea of [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] as a girl’s name (it’s a family name for me).

I love Laura! Too bad you can’t use it. How about:

Lorna
Laurel
Lauren
Lola

Or, you could use a double barrel like Laura Grace, Laura Mae, Laura Kate! I think that would be adorable.

[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lolly[/name_f].

And a bit [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], for the gorgeous [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] [name_m]Young[/name_m].

What about a double first name to eliminate the rhyming?
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Jane[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]May[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]-[name_f]Belle[/name_f] “[name_f]Orra[/name_f]”

[name_f]Laure[/name_f] — the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of the name
[name_f]Laurinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurentine[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurena[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurentia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorenza[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] or Dafna would be a nice choice too, even if it isn’t exactly “naming after”.
