[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all. I am thirty-three weeks pregnant with my second daughter and we still have no name. My first was born at thirty-eight weeks so I’m starting to really panic. A friend highly recommended this site to me so I’m hoping you will be able to help.
Our first daughter is named [name_f]Veda[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] (VAY-da not VEE-da). So far for [name_u]Baby[/name_u] #2 we have both liked and agreed on four names: [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f], however we don’t quite feel like any of them are that perfect one. Hubby also likes [name_f]Mila[/name_f] a lot but we get “Like ‘My Girl’?” almost every time we introduce [name_f]Veda[/name_f] to someone so for this baby I kind of want to stay away from “Like [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis?” or any name that would get a reaction like that.
We think we want the middle name to be [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] (a family name) but that’s not set in stone. Our last name is one syllable and starts with R. Any and all help is appreciated! Thank you!
I love the name [name_f]Veda[/name_f]! I like your options of [name_f]Mara[/name_f] and [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] a lot but I’m not sure how I like them with [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. I like the above suggestions of [name_f]Margo/name_f, [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], and [name_f]Celia[/name_f] as well, and I’d also suggest
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Maggie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] (love this! [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f])
Thank you so much for all the suggestions! I love [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is one of my favorite names but it does not go well with our last name at all unfortunately. I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] is nice but my husband hates it so its been vetoed, so has [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] because of bad associations I have with a woman named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], it’s a perfectly nice name though. We’ve decided to take [name_f]Willa[/name_f] off our list and Hubby has added [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]…not sure what I think about it yet.
Thank you all again. We fell in love with [name_f]Veda[/name_f]'s name instantly and were 100% sure just a few days after we found out she was a girl so this is so new to me. I really appreciate the help.
Some more:
[name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Maris[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_u]Sloan[/name_u], [name_f]Cilla[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], something with the nickname [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]
I’m sure you’ll know when you’ve found the one
[name_f]Veda[/name_f] would go well with [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] or [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], both of which go well with [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].
I think you could get away with [name_f]Mila[/name_f]!
[name_f]Veda[/name_f] [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is super cute!
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] was a good suggestion!
You need something equally sassy for her sister.

Thank you all so much! As of now our much too long list is [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. I’m starting to really lean towards [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as favorites and I also love [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], though I don’t know how I feel about either of those with [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], which we’re now pretty positive we want to be the middle name. Hubby is still pulling for [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] (which I also quite like now) and he also likes [name_f]Nora[/name_f] a lot, but says it sounds “too common” next to [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. He’s also warming up to [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] quite a bit (nobody tell him that one’s getting more common too), especially after I mentioned [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a potential nickname because he apparently adores the idea of a little girl called [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. Surprised he hasn’t mentioned that before, ha.
In short we both love a lot of names, but not exactly the same names. [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] remains the only one we have both agreed on loving for any length of time. We’ve decided that if she’s not named at five days old we will call her [name_f]Mara[/name_f] and be done with it.
[name_f]Veda[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] are such great sister names! [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and [name_f]Mara[/name_f] are nice too, but I don’t love that combo the way I do [name_f]Veda[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
My understanding is that in Greece [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is the traditional nickname for [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], so you could consider that name too. I think I like it better with [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] than I do [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is adorable! Would just [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] be an option? I quite like that with [name_f]Veda[/name_f]. I also really like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] from your expanded list. For [name_f]Mara[/name_f], I would slightly change to [name_f]Maura[/name_f] - I just like the way it looks better!
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] “[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]” is becoming a top contender. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] could be a potential option but my husband thinks [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] doesn’t age well, so he’d rather use it as a nickname so she has something else to go by when she’s older if she wants. My only complaint is that [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is such a mouthful, but that’s not too big of a deal to me and since our last name is one syllable I feel like it could work.
I’ve never heard the name [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] before. I feel like I’m probably mispronouncing it terribly and just about everyone else where we live probably would too so I’d hesitate to use it, but it’s a very interesting name - “beautiful voice” is such a lovely meaning. But I think she would definitely have to go by [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]! [name_f]Maura[/name_f] is pretty but my weird husband says it reminds him of the [name_u]Maury[/name_u] show so it’s out, lol.
We’ve been working hard to narrow down our ever-changing list. I think right now the top five are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], and [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f].
