We thought we had made a clear decision the other night and chose [name]Esther[/name]. After two days I realised that I wasn’t so fond of the name in spanish (which is the language I speak with my children). I think it comes across as quite hard and not at all as classic and “romantic” as I think it does in swedish and maybe english. [name]Do[/name] you have any thought on that? I do think it looks good written though …
It does sound a little brusque in Spanish, but not in an unattractive way. It brings to mind a strong, confident woman, which I think is attractive. Not frilly, but nice all the same.
[name]Esther[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] would be my favorite.
I love [name]Aggie[/name] so I’d have to go with [name]Agnes[/name] if you plan on using a nn. Otherwise I’d say [name]Vera[/name] (as long as it was not pronounced [name]Veera[/name]!)
Ugh. This is a hard one. I really love both [name]Esther[/name] and [name]Agnes[/name]. With [name]Lou[/name] thrown into the mix I chose [name]Esther[/name]- [name]Esther[/name] [name]Lou[/name], so cute! Plus, I love [name]Esther[/name]'s story from the bible and the connection between brother and sister with having biblical names.
[name]EDIT[/name]: I don’t think it sounds bad in Spanish, although I only know very little. Correct me if I’m wrong but is it [name]Ester[/name]? That’s what behindthename.com says anyways. I still find it strong and brave with a feminine flair.
This is the never ending story about choosing a name! I’m coming to terms with maybe having to keep them all three, but then I still have to choose the order …
[name]Vera[/name] [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Esther[/name]
[name]Vera[/name] [name]Esther[/name] [name]Agnes[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name] [name]Vera[/name] [name]Esther[/name]
[name]Agnes[/name] [name]Esther[/name] [name]Vera[/name]
…
Any thoughts? I’m going crazy!
Between [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Esther[/name], I would choose [name]Esther[/name]. It’s a nice name, and [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Vera[/name] are a little matchy for me.
[name]Esther[/name] does sound a little harsh in Spanish, but it’s also pretty.
If you choose [name]Agnes[/name], would you call her [name]Agnes[/name] or Inés when you’re speaking Spanish? (I have a 4 month old named Inés, and I love both names).
I don’t like [name]Vera[/name], but it’s okay as a middle.
I love [name]Beatriz[/name]/x, so my favorite of the names I’ve seen you list so far is [name]Esther[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name], followed by [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Vera[/name].
I think you need to decide which name you want for the first name, and then worry about the middle(s).
What about [name]Esther[/name] [name]Lucia[/name] or [name]Esther[/name] [name]Louisa[/name]? You could still call her [name]Esther[/name] [name]Lou[/name] or [name]Essie[/name] [name]Lou[/name], plus, she would have your name (if you’re using your real name here in NB) if you use [name]Lucia[/name]. I don’t know how to pronounce [name]Esther[/name] in Spanish, but if you use [name]Lucia[/name] as a mn, she’ll have a very Spanish mn.
[name]Vera[/name] is in my top 3, so I voted for it before reading your post. Now seeing your son’s name is [name]Noah[/name], I’d vote for [name]Esther[/name], which is also quite nice. I can’t comment on how it sounds in Spanish though, as my Spanish is poor!
[name]Vera[/name] is the only one that I love.
What about [name]Estelle[/name] instead of [name]Esther[/name]?
I agree. I also like the combo [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Vera[/name] [name]Walden[/name] best.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT!!!
We have now decided to name her a combo of the three names [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and [name_u]Lou[/name_u]. [name_f]Vera[/name_f] because the name has been with us from the beginning, [name_f]Esther[/name_f] because we just love the name and meaning/story of [name_f]Esther[/name_f] from the bible, and [name_u]Lou[/name_u] because her brother insists of naming her [name_u]Lou[/name_u] “beause that means she becomes a girl” (his words!).
So, which combo would you use?
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_u]Lou[/name_u] [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
