Its important that I have one of these variations on my list but I can never decide which one to go with. I love them all for different reasons and each one is special to me in different ways.
[name]Vera[/name] - this one is probably my favorite and goes perfectly with the names on my list but I already have [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] would another name ending in –ra be overkill?
[name]Verity[/name] - this one is so sweet and spunky but it’s kind of feels like a stretch to honor a [name]Veronica[/name]… Thoughts?
[name]Veronica[/name] - this honors the best but does it feel clunky or too much compared to my other names?
My favorite is [name]Vera[/name]. You might have two other -ra names on your list but there’s always a possibility you won’t get to use them, so I’d go with your gut!
I also like [name]Virginia[/name] NN [name]Vira[/name] (pron. the same as [name]Vera[/name]), but that doesn’t honor [name]Veronica[/name] as well.
I like [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Verity[/name] best, and out of the two I’d pick [name]Verity[/name] (I have too literary associations with [name]Vera[/name] that are thoroughly unpleasant…and I’m a huge [name]Vera[/name] [name]Bradley[/name] fan, so that’d be kind of weird if I named my daughter that.)
I think they’re all wonderful.
[name]Verity[/name] feels particularly special to me. It’s one of those names that has that cheerful “EE” ending, but is not at all cutesy.
It feels direct, essential, powerful, yet also sweet and feminine.
[name]One[/name] of my favorite names has been [name]Vera[/name] ever since I was about 12 years old. I’ve always loved the sound of it and it was feminine but still very strong and independent. I think [name]Verity[/name] is pretty too but I’m not a fan of [name]Veronica[/name], it always seemed too much.
Hmm…
My favourite is [name]Verity[/name]! She’s beautiful, sweet and spunky. [name]Verity[/name] has such a ‘happy’ feel.
However she is a stretch within honouring a [name]Veronica[/name], even though [name]Verity[/name] begins with a ‘v’ like [name]Veronica[/name] she doesn’t feel related to [name]Veronica[/name] whatsoever, they have totally different styles, sounds and looks. Nevertheless [name]Vera[/name] even though lovely doesn’t honour [name]Veronica[/name] (in my eyes anyway) they are totally different names. The best way to honour [name]Veronica[/name] is too use [name]Veronica[/name] as a name. I think [name]Veronica[/name] is too clunky compared to the [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Nora[/name].
Concerning ‘ra’ ending of [name]Vera[/name], [name]Nora[/name], and [name]Clara[/name], I think [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] work but it almost feels like [name]Nora[/name] is the overkill, maybe [name]Elena[/name]? [name]Elena[/name], [name]Vera[/name] & [name]Clara[/name] sounds pretty!
To conclude my favourite is [name]Verity[/name] xx
[name]Love[/name], love, love [name]Verity[/name]. And I love [name]Verity[/name] for you. [name]Vera[/name], I don’t know, I think it’s pretty, but it doesn’t feel very approachable/wearable to me. And I have quite awful associations to [name]Veronica[/name], I can’t be unbiased there. But [name]Verity[/name] has all the lovely meanings and imagery of [name]Vera[/name] and [name]Veronica[/name], and still feels very wearable, sweet, and unexpected. I really love it.
I met a very sweet cute little named [name]Vera[/name]. Her parents were cool people. It made me like [name]Vera[/name], which I liked but thought any old lady name. I liked [name]Verity[/name], but it seems the most out there. I think [name]Veronica[/name] is my favorite. It makes me think of [name]Betty[/name] & [name]Veronica[/name].
Now as I understand it you are not thinking of having a baby anytime soon so why not add all three to the list? Overtime your tastes will change and develop and a clear front runner will emerge. By the way if you are someone who freaks out over popularity, I predict [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Nora[/name] will get quite popular in a way [name]Vera[/name] won’t. Again I think would leave [name]Clara[/name], [name]Nora[/name], and [name]Vera[/name] on your list, maybe your husband/or partner will help to pick which one to use.
My favorite is [name]Vera[/name]! It’s spunky yet sweet. [name]Veronica[/name] feels dated to me, and I personally dislike virtue names like [name]Verity[/name]. I don’t think it’s a big deal if you have [name]Vera[/name], [name]Nora[/name], and [name]Clara[/name] all on your list… they’re all pretty and have distinctive sounds despite the similar endings.
[name]Verity[/name] is a new crush of mine. I really like the meaning. Also, I recently read “Codename: [name]Verity[/name]” which was an excellent book about friendship between two young women during World War 2.
[name]Vera[/name] could be a nickname for [name]Verity[/name] if you want.
