Very interesting baby names 1845-1860

So my mother is really into all of that ancestry.com stuff and she was researching a family tree for a friend of my brothers and she came across a very interestingly named family so I though I’d share with my fellow berries.

U.S by the way.

Rosenblum [name]Alonzo[/name]
[name]Pocahontas[/name] Aholabama
Comparacia Aramenta
Lycurgus [name]Luther[/name] “Curg”
[name]Eugene[/name] [name]Ezekiel[/name]
[name]Julius[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name]
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Bruce[/name]
[name]Patience[/name] [name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Early[/name] Devotion [name]Rose[/name]

Crazy right!? My mother and I have determined that the mother of these children was very well-read. Wouldn’t you agree?

[name]Ah[/name], and another interesting name from my great great great grandmother, Icefena. Pronounced ice-uh-fee-na. Her name was spelled all sorts of ways on censuses. Isephina is probably my favorite aesthetically, though.

Those are some very interesting names! I thought that Lycurgus [name]Luther[/name], [name]Eugene[/name] [name]Ezekiel[/name], [name]Julius[/name] [name]Ferdinand[/name], and [name]Robert[/name] [name]Bruce[/name] were lovely. Thanks for sharing!

[name]Early[/name] Devotion [name]Rose[/name] is great! haha

Icefena (I like the Isephina spelling) is gorgeous. Where was she from? I’m really loving it.

Thanks so much for sharing! I love hearing about interesting names. I agree that Icefena is a really cool name, I too think it looks better spelled out Isephina (and it would help with people trying to pronounce it!)

Lycurgus [name]Luther[/name] is my favorite, although I am not positive how it is pronounced? I wonder if the ‘c’ is hard or soft? And if the ‘g’ is hard or soft? I am saying Lie-KUR-gus [name]Luther[/name]. [name]Pocahontas[/name], Comparacia, [name]Early[/name] Devotion [name]Rose[/name]- these are fantastic. Thanks a lot for sharing. I love them.

lol, [name]Early[/name] Devotion [name]Rose[/name]! that’s just like a fantasy Puritan name! I’m gonna keep that on my list so I remember it.

Those name are great. The nickname ‘Curg’ is hilarious.

Wow…I also love to find names from our family’s ancestry. I am very intriged by your [name]Pocahontas[/name] Aholabama, and Comparacia Aramenta! Did you find out how these names originated? I think [name]Patience[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Early[/name] Devotion [name]Rose[/name] are stunningly beautiful!

She was Cherokee. I’m not sure if that was her first given name or her like… “white” name. Haha.

I pronounced hard just as you did… which I’m pretty sure is the right way. I believe he was named after “Lycurgus of Sparta”? But I’m not sure.

I have NO idea how these originated haha. I just think the mother knew a lot about… a lot and drew from what history or language she read or learned about in her life.

I just want to say that [name]Julius[/name] Ferdiand and [name]Patience[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] are delicious little morsels to find.

A lot of the names are really intense. And I can’t believe they used Rosenblum and [name]Rose[/name] in one family.

I wonder if the second part was meant to be [name]Alabama[/name] and the census guy messed up.

I [name]LOVE[/name] Isephina! Desperately trying to find the meaning & origin now! Added to my list so I can remember it =) Beautiful!

Very interesting names. Thanks for sharing!

That thought crossed my mind as well…
Census guys also have the craziest handwriting haha.
