A friend of mine is pregnant with her third wee one and she has very specific naming qualifications that she would like to meet in order to continue her pattern.
Anyone up for a baby name challenge!?! Both boy and girls’ names needed at this point.
Here are the specifics:
Three syllables
All letters are above the line (meaning when name is signed no letters dipping low - g, y, j…)
Vowels in the name include “a-i-e” in that order (but other letters can separate them obviously)
Starts with a consonant
Has an opportunity for a good nickname
Her other kids are named [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
Stylistically it’s extra tough to find something that is also as popular as Natalie and Gabriel. If two syllables were an option, I think Camille, Adaire, and Jasmine would be great options. But sticking with just a,i,e and three syllables, I think:
Harriet is the best option. Natalie, Gabriel, and Harriet really works imo and the third doesn’t feel out of place or forced for the sake of the pattern.
Daniel is a but too on the nose with Gabriel, but works.
Maribel
Gardiner
Bastien/Bastienne
Damien/Damienne
Fabien/Fabienne
Casimer (again, not the standard spelling)
Calixte (probably too out there)
Salinger (I’m sure there are also a lot more surname names that would fit the bill but that’s what I got… sorry the g dips below the baseline)
If repeat syllables are an option (I included a bunch of feminization with an extra, e, but otherwise):
Malachite (love!)
Ballantine
Gratiella
But I stand by Harriet being the best option! Bastien or Adrien would be my boy pick
I don’t even know if this ticks the boxes with regards to the naming criteria but I tried. I also think it’s hard finding names that are a cohesive fit so therefore I have only come up with a couple of options for each.
I’m not sure if all of these hit the mark. I wasn’t sure if other vowels or repeated vowels would work. Also, some I would pronounce with 2 syllables, but I’ve heard them pronounced with 3 so it depends on who you are.
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] (might be too close to [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] and Gabriel)
[name_m]Sebastien[/name_m]
Cashiel
[name_m]Jamieson[/name_m] ( I know J goes below the line but since it’s the first letter it would be capitalized)
Thanks everyone — quite the challenge!!
I really do love some of these suggestions despite the strange parameters, especially so many of the girls. I passed them all along!
I think the leading contenders for her and her partner right now are:
Marceline “Marcie” Teresa & Darien Francis
Under these conditions, I would have went with Harriet “Etta” & Sebastien “Seb”
This is tough. It took me a minute of staring at [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] & [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] to see what you meant about the A-I-E pattern – I would never have noticed that on my own and would give 0% consideration to that factor if I were naming a sibling to [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] & [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u].
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is only one I can think of that meets all the criteria and matches style-wise with the sibs. [name_f]Do[/name_f] the A-I-E string need to be the only vowels in the name?
Right now they have a boy name and a girl name picked out:
[name_f]Marceline[/name_f] “Marcie” [name_f]Teresa[/name_f] & [name_u]Darien[/name_u] [name_u]Francis[/name_u]
I’ll update if the baby gets named something else!
I’m not sure why she wants no below the line?! Her name is [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], so maybe the y’s were annoying to her when writing/signing her name?
harriet “hattie” is honestly the only one I can think of that fits all of those requirements (and tend to agree with @venezio that they are pretty ridiculous )
Next time someone says your name requirements are difficult. Show them this! Haha I thought I was tough. I’m feeling like the spongebob meme of him holding a wall looking at this list of requirements. Haha
