Vesper?

I really love the name [name]Vesper[/name]. What do you think?
My combo is [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name].

~[name]Bree[/name]

I think [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] is a spunky combo! [name]Vesper[/name] is a name my husband has been in love with for a long time. It’s not my usual style, but I do have respect for it. A feminine, quirky classic like [name]Beatrix[/name] works really well with it, I think.

Personally [name]Vesper[/name] reminds me of church and camp where we would have “vespers” before going to bed. Sorry!

I don’t hate it, it just doesn’t sound like a name to me. Like erinpurple said, it reminds me of having vespers.
What about…
[name]Verity[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Valerie[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Vashti[/name]
They’re similar, and all could work well with the middle name you’ve picked.

I’m going to third the thumbs down for [name]Vesper[/name], and I don’t think [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] flows well (the p and b sounds really clash to my ear). I’m really sorry! :frowning:

It reminds me of [name]Vespa[/name] scooters, and it rings boyish to me.

I thought of vespa scooters as well…
plus it sorta sounds like a sneeze to me… :frowning:

i like it. makes me think of a ramona quimby type character. unique and spunky, whimsical girl who goes her own way. beatrix also seems good. saucy yet anchored in the past. but hard to know about the combo without hearing a last name.

[name]Vesper[/name] has nothing good for me! It evokes scooters, prayers, and an old german guy trying to pronounce “whisper” without any luck! I am madly in love with [name]Vashti[/name] and while it is a biblical name (not sure if that is + or - for you), I think it is a more feminine choice that sounds fresh, has substance and no funky vehicles come to mind! It also rocks with [name]Beatrix[/name].

I can see how it could be fun but is a little too closely associated with the [name]Bond[/name] girl to me.

It’s definitely unique. The first thing I thought of was [name]Eva[/name] [name]Green[/name]'s character in Casino [name]Royale[/name]. (It totally WOULD be a bond girl name…)

Anyway, don’t let anyone discourage you from a name if you really love it! If it’s your style and your personality, go for it! Naming your baby is a form of self-expression. You want to love the name every time you say it (and you [name]WILL[/name] be saying it a lot as a parent). As for a middle name, I’d look for a nice one-syllable name. I like [name]Vesper[/name] [name]Dot[/name]. It has a nice forties quirkiness. But, whatever floats your boat, missy! Good luck with it!

I love [name]Vesper[/name] for a girl… it is very cute. [name]Beatrix[/name] works well because it is very feminine.

I have heard of Hesper as a name for a girl, but not [name]Vesper[/name]. [name]Vesper[/name] is a church thing, I think. Also it sounds like ‘viper.’ Not pretty.

I completely disagree with the previous poster who said: “Anyway, don’t let anyone discourage you from a name if you really love it! If it’s your style and your personality, go for it! Naming your baby is a form of self-expression.”

Naming is not self-expression, and it’s not fair to burden her with your style (God only knows what my name would be if my mother named me according to her style… which has not remained constant, by the way, but grows more flamboyant as the years pass). It’s about your child, and how your child will be perceived by other people (some of whom will be assessing her for important things like college and jobs). It’s a serious task, though it can be fun.

I don’t have a preconception about the name (if it is a name) [name]Vesper[/name], as I do about some names, but it’s SO unusual and stands out in such a strange way, that I think you would be doing your child a disservice if you use it.

I looked up the word [name]Vesper[/name] and it turns out it is related to the word/name Hesper. It means evening star, or [name]Venus[/name]; of or pertaining to evening; or evening church service. I guess [name]Venus[/name] looks like a bright star in the sky. The meaning is nicer than the sound. Now that I am a tiny bit more aware of what the word means it is a tiny bit more appealing as a name but I still am not crazy about it.

I like unusual names, but this is way out there.

Sorry, it reminds me of [name]Princess[/name] [name]Vespa[/name] from the movie Spaceballs. Anyone who has seen that movie would probably laugh at this name. Hesper would be much better.
