Vibes of These Honor Names

I was hoping to get some opinions on the vibes or aesthetics of these names. All of them are honor names so personally they are very much attached to the people these names are based on. So I’m looking for some outsiders’ perspectives. What do these names make you think of and also what naming style do you think they fall under, either individually or all together? [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to add any names you think go with these names as well (I’ll probably have the honor names be middle names so still looking for first names)

[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] - cool name, has surnamey vibes for me like [name_m]Wells[/name_m], [name_m]Parks[/name_m], [name_m]Banks[/name_m], [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], etc. Also feels very ancient because it reminds me of the Colossus of [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m].
[name_f]Jayne[/name_f] - feels mostly classic, has [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Austen[/name_m] vibes for me but also a bit mid 1900s because the Y’s inserted into classic names like [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] and [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] seemed to be really popular then. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] feels more timeless to me but I can understand sticking to a family spelling!
[name_f]Raena[/name_f] - either fairy vibes or Game of Thrones… the spelling feels very Game of Thrones to me. But Raina/Reina feels artistic and intelligent and strong.
[name_m]Truett[/name_m] - this feels sensitive and creative and adventurous and brave. The one [name_m]Truett[/name_m] I’ve come across was the son of a musician I liked several years ago… he was also heavily involved in music, which is probably where I get the creative vibes from.

I think many names go very well with these! Especially with a name as classic as Jayne—you could pair her with anything! Here’s just a few random ideas though:

[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]
[name_f]Katharine[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]
[name_m]Blaise[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]

Good luck!

[name_m]Moses[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]

[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] → gives me cool, on-trend vibes, in tune with [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], [name_m]Banks[/name_m], [name_m]Riggs[/name_m] - outdoorsy but preppy

[name_f]Jayne[/name_f] → classic with a twist, mid-century vibes

[name_f]Raena[/name_f] → 60s-70s all-American vibes, names after a family [name_f]Rae[/name_f] or [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] but with a twist - a bit like [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]

[name_m]Truett[/name_m] → outdoorsy but preppy, gentle and charming.

If I were to make combos:

[name_m]Tristan[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m], [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]

[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f], [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f], [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f], [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f], [name_f]Constance[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f], [name_f]Scout[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]

[name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m], [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m], [name_m]Oslo[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]

[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] and [name_m]Truett[/name_m] are really cool! I love that [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] has a meaning related with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and that [name_m]Truett[/name_m] contains the word “true”. They’re unexpected and captivating.
[name_f]Jayne[/name_f] is lovely, but I would spell it [name_f]Jane[/name_f], if possible. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is timeless and elegant, while [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] feels more trendy. This is a very sweet name. It a very popular middle name, but I would love to see it as a first name. It would be so refreshing!
[name_f]Raena[/name_f] sounds cute and melodic. Again, I would probably spell it [name_f]Reina[/name_f] or [name_f]Raina[/name_f], perhaps [name_f]Rayna[/name_f]. I don’t know if that is the original name of the person you want to honor or an option that you found to honor your loved one, but [name_f]Rae[/name_f] and [name_m]Ray[/name_m] are amazing twists of [name_f]Raena[/name_f] that can be used for a girl or a boy.

[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] - [name_m]Super[/name_m] sleek and cool. I picture a guy who’s very stylish and charming. I also just love how [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is a trim name with a simple sound, but has a lot of personality. I absolutely love the Rh beginning. I also love the meaning - I think it’s great for a masculine name to include references to beauty and nature.

[name_f]Jayne[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] is really simple and sweet. I prefer the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] spelling slightly, but [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] feels sunny and makes me think of the jaybird and summertime.

[name_f]Raena[/name_f] - I love this. It feels a bit fairytale, fantasy, but it’s also simple enough to fit in amongst [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. I love the “rain” connection and the simple femininity. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite of the whole list.

[name_m]Truett[/name_m] - [name_m]Truett[/name_m] feels very rugged to me. It’s a good brother name for [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] (all of these are a perfect sibset together, tbh), but while [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] feels more at home to me in a museum or on a pebbled city street, [name_m]Truett[/name_m] feels like it belongs in the woods or by a pond.

[name_m]New[/name_m] to posting a Nameberry so I’m not sure how to edit my own post but I just wanted thank everyone who’s responded so far and also add some background because most have commented on the spelling of [name_f]Raena[/name_f] as well as [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]. Which I get cause spelling can totally change a names vibe sometimes. But as some of you guessed it is because they are honor names but kind of for round about reasons.

[name_f]Jane[/name_f] is my mother’s name but adding the y makes it more gender neutral also my grandfather’s middle name was [name_m]Jay[/name_m] so I like that the y adds that connection. I’m not sure if I would keep the y if I use it for a girl. I’m torn because I do like the connection to my grandfather but the classic spelling would be more of a direct honor for my mom.

[name_f]Raena[/name_f] is a bit of a stretch to be called an honor name- [name_f]Rae[/name_f] is my sister’s middle name and her first name ends in na. So I thought [name_f]Raena[/name_f] was a cute and fresh way to indirectly honor.

Questioning the spelling is still totally valid, just wanted to share my reasoning!
Also side note Nameberry assigns genders to these names but to me they are all gender neutral (except Raena). I would especially love to use [name_m]Truett[/name_m] on a little girl as it’s honoring my grandmother (Trudy).

@ashthedreamer
I love the associations you have with [name_m]Truett[/name_m], I know I said I wanted to have outsiders’ perspectives so that I could figure out what the actual vibes of these name are without personal connection but i love hearing about other peoples experiences with different people that shape the feeling of a name, such an interesting phenomenon. I also love that it makes you think of a creative musical person because the name is for my grandmother who taught be to play the piano and loved to sing as well as write, so also a very creative person indeed!

Some names that you suggested that stuck out to me:
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]- fits beautifully with the fairy vibes
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]- this is such a cottage core name and feels so soft and sunny
[name_m]Blaise[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]- this is an intriguing combination. I know Blaise’s meaning doesn’t have to do with fire, but it invokes flame imagery while [name_m]Truett[/name_m] means dry wood. This name combination definitely holds a spark!

@Anna03
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f] would be such a sweet sister set!

@Greyblue
Interesting that you’ve paired the names [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] with [name_m]Truett[/name_m] and [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] with [name_f]Raena[/name_f]. [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] and [name_m]Truett[/name_m] definitely felt similar to me but I didn’t connect [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] and [name_f]Raena[/name_f]. I kind of wish there was some connection between all the names as I prefer it when there aren’t different styles between the genders of a sibling set. Maybe a girl called [name_m]Truett[/name_m] and a boy called [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] would make the set more cohesive but then I worry that [name_f]Raena[/name_f] sticks out as the only non gender neutral name.

Anyway, thanks for the the combinations my favorites for each name are:
[name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Raena[/name_f]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Truett[/name_m]

@Estrela
I like that you think [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] and [name_m]Truett[/name_m] are unexpected. I know [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] is really popular on Nameberry but it’s still not common in the US I think, hopefully it doesn’t get too popular when I actually have kids! I also like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (with this spelling) as a first name for a little girl, but it is my mom’s name so I don’t how I feel about sharing the name. [name_f]My[/name_f] dad is a [name_m]Jr[/name_m] and it does get confusing at family gatherings, lol!

@FreyByTheWay
Your descriptions of these names are so beautiful. They make me feel such warm, happy feelings. It almost makes me want to use them all as first names. I’m pleased that you think they all fit together as a sibset!

I don’t think they’re incohesive :slight_smile: Another way to look at it is that [name_m]Truett[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] feel like contemporary boy names; [name_f]Raena[/name_f] could feel contemporary too - fitting in with [name_f]Raelynn[/name_f], [name_f]Raina[/name_f], [name_f]Reign[/name_f] and Raya; [name_f]Jayne[/name_f] fits contemporary trends with its ‘non-traditional’ spelling and as a middle, fits in with popular choices like [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] etc.
