Please help, Berries! I’m stuck between the names [name]Victor[/name] or [name]Vaughn[/name] for my main character’s father. Which do you like better? The mother is [name]Dorothy[/name] (nn [name]Dottie[/name]), daughters are [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], and [name]Celia[/name]. The family’s last name is [name]Cassidy[/name], although if I’m not against changing it if I think of a better one! They live in a rural area of southwest [name]Virginia[/name], where they have deep roots, but have some Irish ancestry.
Personality wise, the father is fairly quiet and intensely loyal. He might come off as gruff to people who don’t know him well because his speech is very direct and he doesn’t speak that often- but his family and friends know how gentle he really is.
Thanks Berries!!
I think [name]Vaughn[/name] would fit the description better, and I like it more as a name (in addition to sounding more Irish). However, I’m not loving the ring of [name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Cassidy[/name]. Thoughts?
I prefer [name]Vaughn[/name]! It seems to go with the character more and somehow sounds soft, gruff, gentle, and direct all at the same time. It’s a great name and it fits right into the family. I like it! [name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Cassidy[/name] works. [name]Vaughn[/name] has a way of sounding slightly rough but really quiet too. I would go for [name]Vaughn[/name]! [name]Victor[/name] has always sounded slightly sinister to me for some reason, and as mentioned, it’s less Irish too. Good luck with your story!
Thanks! I agree with what both of you said- [name]Vaughn[/name] does suit the character better! I’ll see if [name]Cassidy[/name] works out as the last name- I think it’s okay, but I’ll keep looking in case something hits my ear better
I know you’ve decided on [name]Vaughn[/name] but just want to third the suggestion of the name, I think it suits the character perfectly and [name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Cassidy[/name] has a great ring to it.
