Hey there, I’m in need of some honest opinions. Does [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] work as a nn for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]? Everyone in my family has a longer first name and a nn for day to day so I’d like to keep that tradition going. Thanks for your input!
I love [name_f]Tori[/name_f] for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]!
I don’t see [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] at all sorry. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but I also like [name_f]Vita[/name_f] or Vee
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] I personally do not see the link with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] but I do like [name_f]Tori[/name_f], [name_f]Vita[/name_f] or [name_f]Vi[/name_f] are lovely.
Sorry, I just can’t see Ivy as a nickname for Victoria. My personal favorite is Via though!
I don’t think it works for just [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], however, for something like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], I.V., I can absolutely see [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
As for other nicknames, [name_f]Via[/name_f], [name_f]Ria[/name_f] or [name_f]Vika[/name_f] may appeal to you.
I think it’s a bit of a stretch, but it could work!
Here are some other short nicknames for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]:
[name_f]Via[/name_f] (VYE-uh or VEE-uh)
[name_u]Cory[/name_u]
[name_f]Ria[/name_f]
[name_f]Tia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tori[/name_f]
[name_u]Ori[/name_u]
[name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
It’s a bit of a stretch for me, sorry
I can’t see [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but I think even if a nickname you like has nothing to do with the full name, just call her what you like. I think it’s the same as calling her sweetie or pumpkin. However, I do think [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] has a lot of great nicknames that make a bit more sense.
Examples:
[name_f]Vicky[/name_f]
[name_f]Tori[/name_f]
[name_f]Ria[/name_f]
[name_f]Via[/name_f]
[name_m]Vick[/name_m]
Vee
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are completely different names with no connection other than having the letters I and V in the beginning of the name. Different sounds, different styles, it doesn’t work as a nn but I do see where you’re coming from with it.
I like simple [name_u]Vic[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are different names
[name_f]Tori[/name_f] or [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
I love both [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], and am a great fan of nicknames that aren’t obvious - however this one doesn’t work for me. They are each such distinct names, and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] feels quite whole, even though short, not really a nickname.
I sympathise with your dilemma. Probably already mentioned, but these are some [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] nicknames: Tori/Tory, [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_f]Vita[/name_f], [name_f]Viva[/name_f], [name_u]Vic[/name_u], [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], [name_f]Ria[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], [name_f]Via[/name_f], [name_f]Queenie[/name_f], [name_f]Vika[/name_f] ((the first syllable is pronounced to rhyme with sick. There is an Australian singer called [name_f]Vika[/name_f] Bull). [name_f]Vita[/name_f] seems cool, modern and fresh to me.
I don’t see it, sorry. If you want [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], I’d say just name her [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
[name_f]Vika[/name_f] is my favorite nickname for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
I don’t really see the connection. So I would have to say that’s a no for me; however as mentioned above [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] has tons of great and creative nickname potential. No has mentioned this one so far but I LOVE [name_f]Plum[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] after the [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Tori[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], Vee/ [name_f]Vi[/name_f], or even [name_f]Vicki[/name_f] are all lovely. If you are set on using [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] I LOVE the suggestion of the previous poster about using an I first name and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] in the middle spot something like: [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Inez[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] are all gorgeous! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this was helpful.
I sort of get it. [name_f]Vicki[/name_f] becomes [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Cool idea!
I can see [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], although it’s a bit of a stretch. [name_m]Vico[/name_m] and [name_f]Tori[/name_f] are my fav nn for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
I see them as totally separate names (both are pretty). The I.V. Initial idea is clever, but I think ultimately too evocative of medical I.V.s.
It’s definitely a stretch ,but I think it could work,my favourite nickname for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
Its a stretch for sure, but I think it’s kind of a cute nn for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], defiantly not intuitive though, but neither is [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. Of the more traditional nn’s for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] I think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is my favorite, but no reason you couldn’t use [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] if that was what you wanted
