Which do you think is better: [name]Naomi[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name] ?
[name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Naomi[/name] are our two top first name contenders for our little girl due in 2 - 4 weeks. Looking for reasonably timeless girls names with traditional spelling where both fn, nn, and fn + mn combo sound good with a surname starting with A…
I think [name]Mimi[/name] would be a cute nn for [name]Naomi[/name]. [name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Vic[/name], [name]Vicky[/name], and [name]Tori[/name]?
And and for [name]Rosalyn[/name], go for it! I think it sounds good with both names, and meaning should trump sound anyways.
I think [name]Naomi[/name] is overall a better choice (even ignoring my personal preference for the name). [name]Victoria[/name] has always seemed harsh to me, and I really don’t like either [name]Vicky[/name] or [name]Tori[/name]. Other possible nicknames could be [name]Vita[/name], Vee, [name]Vika[/name], or [name]Ria[/name], if you wanted more options. [name]Grace[/name] is so overdone as a middle name, and I personally wouldn’t use it if you had a niece named [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Victoria[/name] and [name]Naomi[/name] go equally well with [name]David[/name], but I think it’s a little strange to have siblings named like the Beckhams (I’m not sure if I would have realized it before you pointed it out, but others probably would have). I think you have a lot going against [name]Victoria[/name], and not much against [name]Naomi[/name]. I really like [name]Mimi[/name] as a nickname for [name]Naomi[/name], and there’s also [name]Nomi[/name], [name]Nayo[/name], [name]Mia[/name], or [name]Naya[/name]. [name]Rosalyn[/name] is very nice, and [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Rosalyn[/name] is a lovely combo. Plus it sounds much better with Ahllen-- the A-A transition with [name]Victoria[/name] is kind of hard to say.
I think either way, even if you decide to go with [name]Victoria[/name], you daughter will be very well named.
[name]Naomi[/name]!!! [name]Naomi[/name] is short enough that it doesn’t need a nn and NO, it’s no to similar to [name]Davy[/name]. [name]Victoria[/name] is a nice name but it will be shortened to [name]Vicki[/name] ugh. What about [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (part of your moms name)?
[name]Victoria[/name] [name]Grace[/name], absolutely. It is a classic; you can’t go wrong. [name]Naomi[/name] sounds whiny to me. [name]Vicky[/name] and [name]Tori[/name] wreck the beauty of [name]Victoria[/name], but they are still better than [name]Naomi[/name]. [name]Naomi[/name] sounds like it’s trying too hard. I knew a [name]Naomi[/name] once and despite the fact that the name is pronounced phonetically, many people mispronounced it as Nie oh mee. [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is beautiful; it may not be to everyone’s taste, but you can’t argue with it.
My vote is for [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Rosalyn[/name], with [name]Mimi[/name] or [name]Mia[/name] as nicknames. [name]David[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] does remind me of the Beckhams! Plus I’m not a huge fan of anything to do with [name]Vicky[/name], although [name]Tori[/name] is alright. I just love the flow of [name]Naomi[/name] [name]Rosalyn[/name] though!
Personally, I prefer [name]Naomi[/name] because I don’t like the “ick” sound in [name]Victoria[/name]. They are both well-known classics though, so you can’t go wrong with either.
